Cost of dental braces in Argentina?

I got an implant + abutment done by Pelcman in April this year for under $800US. He also had to extract the old tooth and give me a plastic one for the few days until the surgery. I'm having the crown made here in the US, and it's probably going to cost me more than the surgery!!

    Santiago vs BA

I too found Santiago to be much more "American" (fast food, people a bit less gregarious, better economy) and quite boring! Pick your evil I guess..

US Health Insurance for Argentine Visitors

Thanks for all the help guys, but it seems like all of these have TERRIBLE online reviews. I'm not worried about getting her bag stolen but I do want her covered if she has to go to the emergency room! World Nomads reviews (I'm sketched out by them because all complaints have to be processed...

Big Party Tomorrow for CFK in Velez

I saw one of these posters yesterday in Belgrano - Plastered directly over a payed advertisement at a bus stop. If the vandals support Christina, (and judging by the amount of graffiti in this city I'd say they do) then I'm not going to support Christina!

    Count your change!!!

The same thing happened to me last month at Farmacity on Libertador y Juramento. I was in conversation with my girlfriend and counted as I was walking out the door. I came back and said "Uhhhh yo creo que falta.." and he already had extended the 10 pesos out to me (he didn't even take it out...

US Health Insurance for Argentine Visitors

Thanks ndcj, I contacted a few Minnesota companies that are very popular, but they won't touch anyone that does not have residence in the US (ie - no tourists). I have no problem paying $100/month for her - it's better than going bankrupt.

US Health Insurance for Argentine Visitors

Hey all, My fiancee is coming to the US on her tourist visa until we have a date at the US Embassy in BA for her Fiancee visa interview. She has bought travel insurance, but it only covers her for 2 months of travel at a time. We plan on being in the US up to 6 months, and I don't want her to...

Can you take a bicycle on the bus? Is Lomas Del Mirador safe?

I've taken my bicycle on the bus, but it's a folding one and very portable. Your best bet is to catch the train. Generally the first or last cars don't have seats and are for bicycles. If you aren't buying a U$900 bicycle you most likely won't be robbed. If your bike costs more than $300...

Video: The expat view from Buenos Aires

I agree. I'm already trying to cope with the thought of moving back to Minnesota. Long winters, predictable people, and steady 8 to 5 job. That's why I'm bringing the porteña with me  We'll see how long it takes before I start missing this place - not too long I'm guessing!

3 statements never heard in Arg: "I'm sorry, I was wrong, It won't happen again"

I can't agree more that the customer service in this country is sh*t.
