    Thanksgiving Dinner Recommendations

It is really easy to find whole turkey in BA. You can actually find everything for a traditional Thanksgiving meal with the exception of cranberries. You used to be able to get canned berries, but I doubt you can this year. Otherwise, everything is easily accessible.

    Beef/veal Cheeks?

Has anyone found veal cheeks here? I've been to several of the good butchers I regularly use, and they all say it is a product no one sells anymore. Such a pity! Has anyone bought cheeks here, and if so where was it?

    Illy Espresso

I've seen them before here, but I don't recall if I have recently. The problem is that even if they are here now, you don't know a) how fresh they are or B) how long the supply will last. You've heard about the import restrictions we've had for about a year? If you are big coffee people you...

    Batidos, Fruit Smoothies?

Almost any place does a licuado al agua. Specify that the fruit is "natural" and not "de lata." I also usually ask for no sugar.

    Recieving mail/packages from U.S.

I've successfully had padded enveloped delivered to my door for 3 years. 1) don't sent legos or anything that makes a tell-tale noise 2) nothing too heavy (I've had various weights delivered, so the 1kg limit is subject to whoever gets your package at the post office) 3) claim something vague on...

    Pool Membership

If you've got kids, look at Club de Amigos. CUBA does still require signatures and a hefty initiation fee (3 years ago it was $30,000 pesos). If you've got the fee though, the signatures aren't that hard to come by. If I remember correctly you have to have a letter from a member too...again...

Looking for certain food items..need guidance

Requeson, ricotta, and cottage cheese are not any where near the same thing. You won't find cottage cheese here, but if you truly are desperate you can make it. Casa Polti by the Mercado de Belgrano on Juramento and Ciudad de La Paz usually has wild rice, cayenne and possibly dried tamarind...

Tea tree oil / mold removal

I used to be able to buy small bottles of tea tree oil at Natural Deli. I bought it at the one by my house on Laprida. I can't vouch if the others had it or not, but I remember the one on Gorostiaga always had a lot more oils, etc. Good Luck!

    Pumpkins at Jumbo this year?

I've heard that Jumbo sometimes carries fresh pumpkins around Halloween that are large enough for carving. If anyone sees them could you let me know please? Thanks!

    price for personal trainer

From my personal experience I can tell you that I was dealing with a totally different level of skill when comparing Argentine personal trainers to the Expat trainers I've seen. The Argentines trainers I've known (again, my experience--not to say there aren't some good ones out there so don't...

Recoleta . Zona Liberada - Entraderas

I have seen a lot more police in Recoleta, but I mostly see them texting on their cell phones or gossiping together. There isn't any surveillance going on to speak of. Pura Pinta I say. I doubt we are any safer...

    Graham crackers

That brand Tia Maruja has some flavors that are similar. They have a canela and a coco that I've used successfully to make "graham cracker" crusts. They are in bags and can be found most everywhere.
