    Gym!!

Just went to Alfa which is 3025 Ste Fe. Its small and kinda grimey but has enough equipment to at least work out. Its 130 pesos a month. The upside is its the only one that seems walking distance close to me. Whats the monthly fee at Always? Save my lazy ass a walk over there. Just for grins...

    Corkage?

I found this listing, though not sure if this is a site that offers local knowledge or just aggregates from other sources: http://www.guiaoleo.com.ar/restaurantes/Descorche-1?page=1

    Rooftop bar/restaurant with a view

I'd be even happier (like pig in shit happy) if someone knew of a rooftop wine bar, but I don't want to hope for too much.

    Corkage?

So is there a run of thumb or type of restuarant that generally allows it?

Friday Night Drinks - March 11th

I was thinking of coming on the subte but it seems they stop running at around 10:30. Anyone know the bus lines well enough to tell me how to get back to SantaFe around the Alto Palermo?

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

I had previously assumed that it was generally understood that QE meant the Fed buying the Treasury debt. Maybe that was a point of confusion between Ries and I earlier.

Partially and I'm sorry you feel sickened, but I can't make everyone feel good. Perhaps a bit more detail on what I said that was sickening might help, in PM perhaps. @Ries, man take a joke. If you think that was grumpy you ain't never seen grumpy! I should have searched first, you are correct...

    Rooftop bar/restaurant with a view

I've spent YEARS educating people on the interlocking credit and real estate bubbles. Surely you can repay my kindness with a little of your own? You want to talk about no new topics sheesh! How many times should someone have to explain what a NINJA loan is and what its the real estate...

    Rooftop bar/restaurant with a view

I just walked out onto the deck of my apartment. I was watching the hustle of people going to work and I realized I'd like to find a few spots to watch the sunset and have a beer. 9am is the perfect time for such thoughts! Any suggestions?

Need to get prepaid cell for 3 month stay?

Just went to movistar and claro in the Alto Palermo mall. Movistar told me the cheapest phone was 719 pesos. Wow that was attempted gringo gouging. Claro told me they couldn't accept visa cards from foreign banks. I have a citibank mastercard, but its US issued. Will they accept this? Josh

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

Well at least on this I think we can partially agree. Humans function on simplistic models. However I think you are also trying to ascribe to market forces that which is directly attributable to non-market (albeit very complex ones.) So you didn't really answer either of my questions, the peg...

Cell Phones, Blackberries, and Vonage- Help??

Is the skype routing to a local phone reliable? I've bought a Skype in number for my time there but didn't know I could forward to a cell at reasonable prices. What does it cost per minute. How does Skype compare with Google voice?

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

Ries, if the US doesn't matter, or matters less and less then answer me this question: why keep the peg? Its as basic a question as why the Fed talks about inflation, but fights deflation. In the long run I don't disagree with most of what you say, but the rise in food and oil cost (which is I...

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

To put it bluntly my point is that foreigners don't vote. The Feds move was a calculated destruction of purchasing power of the dollar would do two things. One keep the global economy (of which we are a large part) from collapsing. Second to keep government borrowing costs absurdly low, which...

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

So Blaming any one entity is never a successful strategy except for demagoguery. However in this case yes the US is essentially the prime mover in whats happening. Rather the US has made policy decisions that set in place over decades what is now happening. To say that the US is to blame as if...

Food prices at record high - to stay high for extended period

Thats what happens when the Fed tries to rescue the US from its fiscal profligacy. Most of the printed money is going straight into bank vaults but it has sparked inflation fears. Those fears have driven up commodity costs all across the board. Since it doesn't matter where you live those...
