    Mastercards yes,AMEX not so much. Exchanges in smaller towns are harder to find and the rate is often lower than in BA. You are better off exchanging in BA before heading off. A lot of small businesses don't accept CC and not even debit - some markets, etc.

    yep, it does. but i went to brazil with a temporary one, and it was fine. Colombia did require a permanent.

    That is not necessarily true, i went to Brazil with DNI and that was enough ( though with my passport I would need a visa for Brazil ). Same applies to Colombia - but the DNI has to be permanent.
