    Charles Schwab

Question, since I know lots of us use Charles Schwab. Does anyone know what exchange numbers they use to calculate the rate when withdrawing from ATMS?

    Brazil with Permanent Residency

Good afternoon all, Quick question as I am currently looking at flight options to NYC, and one of the cheaper options is with TAM, but with a layover in Brazil. I was wondering if I will have to get any special permission to do a flight layover in Brazil as a US citizen, or if I can just go and...

Where Can I Find Cheap Produce?

Ferias Itinerantes - They are hosted through the city government with set prices that are lower than what you will find in verdulerias.

    Blocked by the AFIP

I doubt that the AFIP actually blocked you from purchasing dollars, was probably just a communication problem. I would imagine what must have happened is that as this was your first time changing with your DNI, that you also need to present your CUIT (Codigo Unico de Identificación del...

    Contribution to IRA from abroad?

Legilber, I wouldnt be able to tell you anything about the IRA tax free, but I was wondering if you could let me in on how you get your money sent to your US bank account, as that is something I need to start doing soon.

    Bus to Ezeiza?

Yea, really doesn't make that much sense to take the 8. Just bus it to the corner of Av. Belgrano and Defensa and grab the MiniBus Ezeiza. Only costs $20 and it gets you there in a quarter of the time, and much more comfortably. Runs from 8 to 18:30...

    Went to buy Dollars today.........

No, I am referring to Casas de Cambio, all the places I deal with are 100% legal. Cambio Paris current Buyer rate is 4.25, same as Banco Piano. Banco Nacion is selling at 4.24, so not much of a difference there.

Total payroll expenses as related to take home salary.

Not low, I think you are getting into Ingresos Brutos territory there. I would imagine for net wage of 6K, the gross pay would be around 8500 - 9000 pesos. I know for a net wage of 2500 it is about 3200 gross, and for 3500 it is 4300 gross. Though when you get above a take home wage of about 5...

    Went to buy Dollars today.........

What? What casas de cambio are you going to. I have never had to buy at the black market rate. I used to always buy at Paris Cambio before I had my DNI and CUIL but now I buy at Cambio America. Paris Cambio usually has some of the best rates in the city, usually a cent or so from the average rate...

    Horrible accident in Flores

There are many projects that are currently working to eliminate grade crossings, although most focus on grade crossings of the Mitre, San Martin, Urquiza, Roca and Belgrano rail lines. The Sarmiento line, where this accident took place, is currently not being considered for any quick grade...

There are a couple self-service places on Federico Lacroze - I have never actually checked them out because I would rather just send my clothes to be washed - but the machines are coin operated!

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

The prices on that site are the agreed upon prices at Ferias Itinerantes. You will not find those prices at a verduleria (not even close), but the feria itinerantes are easily accesible around the city!

    Job Offer in Buenos Aires

Yea, it really isn't as expensive as it seems to some people. My wife and I live on far less than what you will be earning. We budget about 500 - 600 per month for Groceries and definately not go starving. Anyways I really just wanted to include this nice page from the Buenos Aires Govt...

    Monedero and Sube

Not really complicated, at this moment they are interchangeable - although there are some important differences. Mondero was the first RFID transportation payment card and has been around for a few years (more than 3 is all I know). It was released and is managed by a private company and was...

database comparing cost of living between 2 selected cities

....Probably why the website does not state anything about the "relative" cost of living. I agree with what you say, but also note that most expats are people from the first world with some sort of savings or outside income source. This is not the case for me, and I agree that the relative cost...
