IMO a good Caesar is ALL about the dressing!

Only decent Caesar salad I’ve had in BA...everywhere else it’s just mayo and terror.

Many cities in California charge a transient occupancy tax on hotels that is often 10% of the room rate. BA is a deal. I wish Venice would find a way to tax those cruise ships into oblivion.

It really has. Maybe everyone is in Lisbon or the next next Expat Hotspot. I appreciate the re-read and it reminded me of some great BA Expat contributors/characters I’d forgotten.

If you’re outgoing and positive, you’ll have a good experience. Just remember that most of the life in BA happens in the evening/night, so I would still consider living in the city for the after school life, in a northern area neighborhood like Belgrano, which is closer to Pilar.

I totally agree with Iznogud. At 28, even at my age, I’d be crazy bored in Pilar. I would live in CABA and commute to school. Plus, you’ll be sort of against the commute, assuming your school hours are similar to work. No reason to move to BA only to be stuck out in the boonies.

Where did you end up? I’ve had a similar experience in BA...people tend to stay at home with family and friends through midnight and then head out to bars or discos. I wondered if the Alvear, Four Seasons were mostly tourists?

Spring in BA is gorgeous.

I would look for an affordable and good tutor. I took some of those classes and spent most of the time waiting for the class members to show up, take coffee breaks and catch up to different levels. I learned more from Adriana Crom in 4 hours per week than I did in 20 hours of group classes...

Punta in high season is crazy. Crowded, expensive, frankly awful. Luckily, the biggest madness only lasts for about a month, from post-Christmas to late January. I would escape up near Punta del Diablo and wait it out. I agree it’s a lovely spot once the hordes subside.

Did Argentina ever leave Peronismo in any meaningful way? Seems to me it’s the default system always waiting in the wings when it becomes clear there isn’t a quick fix to decades of corruption and mismanagement.

Totally get it. It’s lucky that you have the option to leave. Many people I know can’t. So where are you going?

That sounds insane. I’m going to go ahead and ask the obvious question (I don’t see the answer in your post)...why don’t you move? Even if the apartment is well located, it can’t be worth not having cold water nor dealing with abusive management.
