    Meeting new people

Seconding Meetup, in part to shamelessly plug the Meetup group I'm starting to put together to organize art-related outings around the city: https://www.meetup.com/ba-art-outings/

    Hobbies/Classes in English

I haven't taken this class, but I just noticed it on the map yesterday -- Argentine cooking classes in English: https://argentinecookingclasses.com/_maquetado/contact.php

Rentista, Citizenship via naturalization and Tax Compliance

I think you can find other peoples' experiences on some of these issues by searching in the forum.

What is seguro de caución de Finaer?

OP might be well past this point, but in case it's ever helpful to someone finding this post in the future: it seems like if you don't have local income or a co-signer you can pay a deposit of 6 months worth of rent to the company on top of the cost of the insurance that will get refunded at the...

An exploration of the Argentine world of alfajores

The Bon o Bon ones come pretty close for me, though it's not exactly peanut butter, just a ~peanut cream~.

    Vegetarian-friendly alfajores?

In case this is ever useful to someone else -- Havanna alfajores are kosher-dairy (as is Cachafaz) and therefore beef-free, and at least one type of Mamuschka alfajores (almond) are as well.

    Vegetarian-friendly alfajores?

I mean, making them at home you certainly don't have to use beef fat, but once I knew to start looking for it, it seems pretty common in commercially-prepared ones to have cookies made with it.

    Vegetarian-friendly alfajores?

I should have thought of this earlier, but I didn't realize until today how many alfajores are made with beef fat. Does anyone know of good places to get vegetarian-friendly ones? They don't have to be vegan, dairy/eggs/honey are OK. As far as the bigger brands of packaged ones go, it seems...

Meeting the rentista passive income requirement using a peso bank account?

You won't be able to get a DNI with a four-month Spanish class. It could take much more than 3.5 years to get a passport without legal residence, and you have to use a lawyer to apply for citizenship without legal residence, it's not just 'better to have'. Others who have tried recently to open...

How much is the cost of living in Buenos Aires in June 2023 in US$?

Not sure how close to downtown you want to be, but here's studios in Recoleta: https://www.zonaprop.com.ar/departamentos-alquiler-recoleta-hasta-1-ambiente.html Or if you want furnished temporary rentals: https://www.zonaprop.com.ar/departamentos-alquiler-temporal-recoleta-hasta-1-ambiente.html

    Recommendations for Attorneys

I hope people will still post alternative recommendations, but I can confirm that Gabriel Celano is still doing immigration law. I'm a current client of his, and I became a client in Feb. 2023, so somewhat recently.

Moving to Argentina how do I keep a US phone number?

I got a US number through TextNow, though I don't pay for data so I couldn't port my old number. It's been working for a year and a half a this point, and I can use it to call or text the US and Canada free ($10/yr to use the service at all). It works for most 2FA, though not Venmo/Paypal...

    Investor visa

Your friend should talk to to Celano -- based on my conversations with them, and without knowing the details of your friend's work, they might advise your friend to apply under a rentista visa. https://www.celano.com.ar/es/

    Spanish tutor/class, focused on speaking

You're making an awful lot of presumptions here both about what I'm looking to practice within the realm of speaking and how I interact with the world...? This was a bit of a lecture, a patronizing use of the "author's 'we' ", and unhelpful. I can work with a teacher or a class to practice...

    Spanish tutor/class, focused on speaking

I'm trying to improve my spoken Spanish, since my speaking level is way behind my reading and listening, and I have other ways to practice writing. I've thought about going to language table-style events, but when I've done that in the past I've found that I mostly just get to practice...

Certificado de Domicilio en CABA para extranjeros sin DNI

I got one from the police in March -- just went in, waited around for a *long time* until they felt like helping me, and gave them a rent receipt from my AirBnB. They were hesitant at first since I didn't have a utility bill, but someone else in line explained to them that I can't have a utility...

    Best places to study/work?

I've spent an afternoon writing at Cigaló's Villa Urquiza location. Very pleasant with good coffee and food. I don't remember how the wi-fi was, I wasn't doing anything that had huge internet speed requirements, but the login was easy to find. Cigaló's IG

In your shoes, that's what I would do? If you can't enter the right combination of details to get your entry to pop-up, I'm not sure what other options you have.
