No commercial flights until September 1st

Suspending the sale of tickets doesn't mean they will be banned until September 1st for sure. Probably for a couple months though. Hope they at least extend visas for people stuck here & allow special repatriation flights.

    Alberto Fernández does not lie

Macri was handed an economy that had just had its longest period of extended growth since the 1930s. GDP had risen massively in the last 10 years and living standards were at their highest ever levels. He destroyed all of that within 2 years. There is nothing he touched that didn't end up 10...

    Alberto Fernández does not lie

At the end of Macri's mandate the peso was worth the exact same as what it was at the beginning of the pandemic. Macri had no such externality to deal with.

    Western Union money transfer

I usually pick up my WU money in person but unfortunately it's impossible now with the huge lines. No bank account in Argentina. It's still working though, if you can wait.

    Alberto Fernández does not lie

He's taken full control of the situation and his policy line is not at all the same as Cristina. He's also MUCH better at being a public figure in general, Cristina sounds like a conspiracy theorist half the time while Alberto is grounded in reality and actually knows how to deal with criticism...

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

Agreed, especially since a lot of them are Bolivians anyway, who technically can legally get residency at the drop of a hat due to MERCOSUR, they just haven't bothered with it. I have a couple of acquiantances who are Sengalese as well (no idea why they chose to come here still but anyway...)...

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

I haven't been here for 2 years yet but I will once I have the money and the time.

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

Yea, it's just that with the changes Macri made and recent denials of some tourists entries, I'd rather not risk it, since if I applied for residency I would want to enter as a tourist first. One immigration agent having a bad day could ruin my life.

200 Cuban Doctors arriving to Help with Corona Virus Crisis

it's not struggling at all, yet. This is preparation. Also, Argentina has a mixed system, not a public-only one.

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

Hahaha my visa expires on the 18th of may. The limit for this, 60 days from March 17th, means I don't qualify for the extension by 2 days, as eligibility extends only to May 16th. Oh god. I know I won't get deported or anything for violating the expiry, but I want to come back and apply for...

Anybody else thinking the cure is worse than the disease?

The point is to keep hospitals from being overloaded. To do this we won't need full quarantine forever. Social distancing with masks and a limited re-opening may be enough.

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

Yes but the question was whether the 30 days are only applied to visas that expired from March 17 to April 16, or all visas. The wording in the DNU is ambigious.

200 Cuban Doctors arriving to Help with Corona Virus Crisis

They reject them because they're competition, not because they're not needed or not good enough. The associations cited are unions, not just a group of professionals giving their opinion, they're advocating for their members economic interests just like any union does, their concerns are based...

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

Also, the suspension of administrative procedures regarding migration expired on April 16th. "Suspéndense los plazos para el cumplimiento de toda intimación, emplazamiento o citación emanado de tramitaciones en curso en la órbita de la DIRECCIÓN NACIONAL DE MIGRACIONES, así como del...

OverStaying in argentina due to COVID-19

I am in contact with immigration NGOs as well as other immigration lawyers and NONE OF THEM have heard anything about this 'visa suspension'. You can check, Google it, look at the websites of respected organisations that advise migrants in Argentina. They list the DNU, they do NOT have anything...

Dry Law in half of the country

It's so funny to see Americans posting this stuff about Argentina when they have Donald goddamn Trump as their president who's currently overseeing by far the worst coronavirus response imaginable. Why do you live here if you despise it so much?

Police Brutality in the quarantine Video attached

https://www.clarin.com/policiales/video-vigilancia-muestra-mujer-policia-mata-ladron_3_TO5I4rdo9.html How can you justify this, for example? Fleeing, unarmed, no threat to anyone, shot 10 times in the back. The sentence for robbery is not summary execution.
