Argentina’s President Calls Crypto a ‘Hard Currency’ that Can Fight Inflation

Sorry, initially I said Equador made bitcoin legal tender when I meant to say El Salvador. I then edited that, but noticed some others refering to Ecuador instead of El Salvador. Anyways, the president of Argentina seems to think that bitcoin might help solve inflation issues, though he’s not...

Argentina’s President Calls Crypto a ‘Hard Currency’ that Can Fight Inflation

What’s the reasoning behind making crypto like Bitcoin a legal currency? Would something like this work to reduce inflation? I believe El Salvador has made Bitcoin legal tender, if I recall it was to help people who are unbanked, and for cheaper transfer for those living abroad to send money...

Meatless, vegan hamburgers have arrived at a fast food chain in Buenos Aires

Sounds great. Fast foods are typically in more locations so nice to have something like that if there are no issues. Is the cheese and bread vegan too? As you might know I’m vegan and have been vegetarian/vegan since 2005. Many products of all kind are now vegan and they’re very good...

Argentina partially reopens as it approaches 5 mln COVID-19 cases

Yes, that seems like good news, because people will take it, the rates will go down, and the country will reopen. Seems to be a matter of availability right now if I understand. Just a matter of time before they get enough vaccines.

Argentina partially reopens as it approaches 5 mln COVID-19 cases

That’s interesting. When do you think this might happen? It sounds like it depends on the number of caseloads, and that depends on people taking the vaccine when it become available. What percentage of Argentines do you think will take the vaccine? Is there a strong anti-vaccine culture in...

Anyone use crypto hardware wallets in Argentina?

Yes, there do seem to be lots of cases where people who kept their crypto in the hard wallet have then died or lost their seed phrase, and their crypto. For example, this article: https://thehustle.co/what-happens-to-your-bitcoin-when-you-die/amp/. I read somewhere that if someone passes away...

Legality of Pepper Spray in Argentina, Buenos Aries

Good to hear you haven’t had to use it. Same here. Never had to use one. It’s a good thing to have though. I keep one in my pocket here in Texas even though I have a license to carry a concealed handgun. But practically speaking I hardly ever carry a handgun because even the very small ones...

Legality of Pepper Spray in Argentina, Buenos Aries

Thanks. That seems like a lot of regulation and ways to get into trouble with the law if not done properly. Sounds like the way to do it is to purchase it from a reputable dealer in BA, and then to register the weapon. I imagine a reputable dealer will also have some instructions about how to...

Bringing food into the country from the US

Thanks all. It was very useful info. I did a bit of research and indeed there are vegan restaurants and grocery stores in BA. They also seem to have cruelty free products so will check them out. Although I didn’t notice much American brands that I”m used to, I see there lots of unfamiliar...

I have some favorite non perishable treats, such as chocolates, protein bars, specific brand of sleep tea that seems to work for me, etc., that I’m not sure I’ll easily find in BA, at least not at first, and was wondering if it might be a good idea to bring several months supply into the country...

What areas of BA have underground power lines?

Are there some neighborhoods in between that have some of the best of both worlds? I watched some of this Buenos Aries Walk, I think it's close to Puerto Madero. So far the neighborhood seems clean, has no utility wires, but does seem to have some of that BA original vibe or architecture.
