Washing machine, which should we buy?

We pay 60-80 pesos a week, a big suitcase full of clothes. I found things get so dirty here, it's necessary to get the washing done this frequently. I live off of a main Avenue, maybe that is why. Do you guys find BA dirty? I lived in cities before, but I stopped opening the windows here...

Washing machine, which should we buy?

Thanks everyone. This was so helpful. I remember when I had to buy a blender, what a headache, I was use to my Vitamix back at home and when I couldn't find anything like it, I was trying to fine one at least close to it. No luck, of course, but it was a long time before I found this out. So...

Washing machine, which should we buy?

We are shopping for a washing machine because it is getting so expensive to pay someone to wash our clothes. I have no idea which to get because I found appliances tend to break easily here. I looked at the laundry machines at the laundry mats, and they seem like they would work well but where...

Racism in BA, am I alone?

I went to my reiki class today and I was comparing, positively, some areas outside of the central, how they remind me a little bit of Brooklyn, and a woman in my class, innocently asked, "Aren't there a lot of " negros" in Brooklyn? I heard they are dangerous. I said, trying my best to dispel...

    rules about marriage?

I would like to get married (US Citizen) to my fiance ( Argentine, and US Citizen, he has two passports). They said we have to contact the US Embassy and the US Embassy must confirm we are not married to anyone in the states. I did contact the US Embassy, I then sent them an email as...

Desperate for raw or pasteurized milk

When I drank milk, I would make kefir with milk from the store, it tasted awful. Then I started buying milk from this farmer in El Galpon in Chacarita. I think it's really fresh, the fat of the milk was on the top and it had a different color, sort of like raw milk in NY and it tasted good. But...

    Restaurant Survival Guide

I disagree, when I love a place, especially after I have been there, I promote it, because that is what we do where I am from. Sorry. There are many places here that people mention, many times, and that is okay? Hmm. Is it because it's a vegetarian place? Is that why? I am also tired of not...

Racism in BA, am I alone?

Is this true, I am so sorry to hear that. I love the Chinese families here, I have become friends with quite a few, and they are so welcoming and warm to me. I wonder what that poor little girl goes through on a daily basis.

Racism in BA, am I alone?

Thanks everyone. This is very helpful. And I do feel better about what happened. I understand now. It's a mix of everything, me running, railroad tracks, when I look back, of course she must of been scared, she must of had a bad experience before. Yes, people are more open about being racist...

How many of you want to leave Bs As?

I am not hanging out with any expats, at all. I hang out with most of my husband's friends and people I have met through my classes (yoga, martial arts, reiki) and they are really nice people. Argentine's are okay, but when I don't get along with them I think it's me. I have been living in...

Racism in BA, am I alone?

I am a tan gringa from NY, I look Indian, Ecuadorian/ Italian, like everyone from the States, we are mixed. I have been experiencing a lot of racism. Today was the worst and the most frightening of my experience so far. I was doing my daily jog and I was crossing the railroad tracks. I don't...

Suspected 2000 peso theft by cleaning lady from 4-digit key safe

This is great, I lived in El Salvador, and had my only robbing experience my first week there. We didn't have guard dogs and our house was easy to break into, so we learned to hide our stuff really good, kind of like what this person suggested. When we would go away for a week to Honduras, I...

    Restaurant Recommendation wanted.

Buenos Aires Verde is the best restaurant in Palermo. The food is clean, healthy and gourmet. Try the desserts, they are so good. It's on Gorriti 5657,off of Fitz Roy. Google the exact address. I love this place. And it's cheap, compared to all the other restaurants in Palermo.

    i need to learn spanish!!

http://www.tusclasesparticulares.net/buscar/clasesparticulares.aspx I like this site. Don't go to any of those expensive schools, I went to them, the biggest rip off, nice people but you can get the same lessons with a private teacher for 30 pesos-40 pesos for one hour. Good luck.
