    Help Argentinian visit US

I agree with Bradyhale. If she goes with the story that she is doing work for her Ph.D., it will sound too vague and they will ask for paperwork from an affiliated university. You cannot just enter the US on a student visa to do doctoral research on your own. There's a whole protocol that has to...

Hi all, considering moving from Australia.

Another datapoint: One of my middle-class friends told me they need 5000 pesos per month to cover the minimum expenses for a family of 4, including food, maintaining 2 cars, and sending their kids to a middle-class, private school. They own their own apartment.

Hi all, considering moving from Australia.

"Whats the story with schooling? We are prepared to homeschool our boys if the local schools are sub par." The last time I checked, and I do educational research, there was no possibility of home schooling your children in Argentina in such a way that it'd be recognized by the state here. In...

Obama meets with the terrorist Dalai Lama

Another useless thread to inform us what Orwellian is against in life, one more thing and counting, but never to inform us, for instance, how he is working on improving life overall. I value proactiveness in seeking change and admire people who do something about things they do not like...

    Need help filing American taxes

Hi citygirl, Thank you for your answer. Well, I am both a US citizen and an Argentine one... For sure, I wouldn't be happy having to pay taxes in the US, and then here (my work was en blanco) and then there, once again, for my work in Argentina. You raise an important point, though. I'll do more...

    Need help filing American taxes

"It depends on how complex your taxes are, if you have rental properties, investments, etc." No, none of that, they should be easy except for the fact that I worked there till March and then here, and I think there was something with that... meaning, don't I have to tell them about my income in...

    Need help filing American taxes

Hi Lee, Thank you. One more question: does TurboTax also provide you with some type of "peace of mind" promise, like H&R Block? I do not think so, but I am asking just in case... In other words, if I make a mistake on the form, they will audit me, right?

    Need help filing American taxes

SaraSara, thank you for your prompt answer. Did you have to buy the 2010 edition? And how much was it, if I may ask (I am assuming you downloaded it)? Still, a CPA in Buenos Aires would be my first choice...

    Need help filing American taxes

Hi! The filing date for taxes is coming up (at least in California, my state) and I always try to get my taxes done way before. This will be my first time filing taxes from abroad; on top of this, I have always used a CPA, have never even tried to figure it out on my own. It is one of those...

Volunteering at Organic Farm in BA?

Please let us know what you get. I'm also interested in organic farming and have seen it work very well in California. It is something that most Argentinians need to learn about.

Volunteering at Organic Farm in BA?

There's an association of organic farmers somewhere in Capital. Try to google it up in Spanish and see what you can get. I'd start there. Good luck!

Volunteering at Organic Farm in BA?

Besides Australia, the countries with the most organic area are Argentina (3.1 million hectares), China (2.3 million hectares), and the United States (1.6 million hectares). Much of Argentina's organic farmland is pasture, like that of Australia (2007:42). Italy, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Uruguay...

    Crafty People?

Hi! I know a bit of crochet, but would like to move into knitting sweaters and such, and have 0 experience with knitting with 2 needles. Could I also join in? I have a lot of ideas of things I'd like to make, but I am still a long way from getting there...

Hey Im looking for information on kabblah centers in buenas aires

I also understand that it is connected with Jewish mysticism. If I were you, I'd try to connect with a few Rabbis and the Jewish community and go from there. It is a large community in Buenos Aires and many of them are highly educated, so I am sure someone will point you in the right direction...

Any Argentinians on this site that relocated to Buenos Aires after living abroad?

I originally replied to the post about the use of language and, indeed, it is the appropriate thing to use English because we know everybody will understand it by definition if they are on this site... Using Spanish would be discriminatory, if I am proficient in both.
