Can you undo a signed rental contract?

It does not matter what his level of Spanish is. He is a foriegner, therefore, it must be translated.

    US Citizen stuck with peso

When we left BA, this was two months ago, the branch of Banco de la Nacion in Ezeiza had a posted sign saying that the only people who could exchange pesos for dollars were Argentines, who had obtained prior permission from AFIP, and had a valid ticket to leave the country. As I said, it was...

Thank you BA Bomberos and Policia

We may complain about the police and their lack of action but sometimes, but its good to know that there are some truly good people on the BA police force who will come through when its needed most. Thanks for posting this.

recieving package - with huge aduanas fee

I had packages sent to me three times while I was in BA. Each time, they had not bothered to see what was inside the boxes. Perhaps that was because they were sent separately in smaller boxes and they had less reason to suspect something valuable being in a smaller box, I don't really know...

    Deal for pesos?

We move to the states 2 months ago, and we change 500 pesos in Dulles Airport since we couldnt in Bank of America ( they told us that the value of the peso is not trustful so they didnt take it ) at 5.53 plus taxes. I think you might need to lose some profit off your pesos before to lose it all.

A simple traffic accident can be dangerous

ElQueso, I am so sorry that this happened to you. I really hope that you are feeling well and that you will be able to recover fully from what happened. I can also say that I sincerely hope that you press charges. I know, it is Argentina, most likely nothing will come of it, but maybe you can...

    Found: Donuts

KFC and Dunkin Donuts left because of the crisis...as any smart business would have done at the time. I've heard that Dunkin was a roaring success before the crisis hit, so it could work again.

    Attempted mugging near the Abasto

The K's control the federal police, and lets not forget that most of her support comes from those very people who wanted to rob you. My wife spoke with the city police one time, and they said that they were not allowed to do anything if something happened. They can basically arrive at the scene...

    TBA journey to hell

I don't know how people put up with it. Most people have the mind set that they can't do anything about it. I don't know how long it will take or how many accidents have to happen with the trains before things are corrected, or rather, before regular Argentines stand up and demand a change. I...

    Shock at the Supermarket

A 1.5 liter bottle of Levite cost 3 pesos in June of 2009. Now it is 6 pesos in most locations and even over 7 in some locations. Thats the only one that I can recall to give you, but its pretty revealing. Inflation seems to be around 40% a year.

    Move to Buenos Aires?

The biggest factor in whether or not you should come here is your job. If you will continue to make the same money that you are making now, then you should come. Crime has always been an issue in Buenos Aires, even if it has increased over the last few years. Just follow the basic guidelines for...

Oh, look, the US media noticed Argentina

I'll avoid the debate on health care in Argentina. This was a mistake that could have happened anywhere. I will just say that I am glad that they found the baby and I hope that she'll grow to live a normal, happy life. I hope the parents are doing well with this. I can't imagine how I'd feel if...

    Vent/Rant

My parents sent me a replacement card through the US post office and it got to BA in less than a week. I do not know if it was priority or not. They sealed the new visa inside of a greeting card so it just looked like someone sending a birthday card or something.

    exit cost ?

It is 300 pesos. You will have to get there an extra hour beforehand. It took me about an hour to pay the fine. You'll have to make your way to the migraciones window in the airport, and then they will take your passport and give you a piece of paper to go pay the fine at the Banco de la Nacion...

do males get robbed more in BA??

You think that a thief will rob a man instead of a woman as a matter of pride?? If it is a matter of pride, then why don't they find an honest way to make a buck? And if it is a matter of pride, then I would love to know why they tried to steal from my pregnant wife last year. I don't think...

Flying with a baby, any advice?

Thanks for all the advice. We've done most of what has been suggested. Taking the stroller all the way to the door. We booked the two isle seats in the middle of the plane. We're going to have some of her favorite things with her. The only issue I don't think will be the trip itself, she...

Flying with a baby, any advice?

I can't believe that I never thought to ask this before now, but Wednesday night we are flying from Buenos Aires to Washington DC and we are taking our 10 month old daughter with us. It is a 10 and a half hour flight. Does anyone who has already done this have any advice about what we should do...

Prohibition on drawing from accounts in pesos from outside Argentina from April 3rd

Thats just it. They don't want Argentines to travel internationally.

flights out of kennedy airport for oct or nov.

That is the beginning of the high season here. Many many people visit the city during Spring (as they should, it is beautiful during Spring) and that keeps ticket prices pretty high. The cheapest ticket that I ever bought between DC and BA was u$s890 and that was in June of 2009. Since then...
