Bringing a container with our stuff...

My stuff arrived in December of last year. I had to spend the December holidays (the Customs staff hardly work at this time of year), and wait until the first or second week of January to be able to receive all the boxes at home. And yes, they will charge you per day ... They take advantage of...

Bringing a container with our stuff...

"Despachante" is the word, no slang applies in this case. We talk fast and the word could sound as "pachante" being "des" almost imperceptible.

    Aduana concerns

Like Jblaze, I cant say if it was the shipping, customs, or the people moving it into my house. Who knows...It is not an expensive cabinet table, though. So, I dont even care about it. Actually, I fixed and still can use it.

    Aduana concerns

I moved back from the States last year. I brought a bunch of boxes but it wasnt a huge moving. Three of my big boxes have been opened and checked. Some things arrived dented and two pieces of furniture scratched (and one of the cabinet table's side, crushed and broken).

How to call a US number collect

US Toll free numbers don't work from abroad. But I'm thinking you may try the following: open VPN and dial again (via computer, I mean. Skype, etc)

The cons of living in Bariloche

I had the opportunity to live in Bariloche for a couple of months, after the "corralito". What I noticed was that people, in general, were ripping each other, a lot of envy if someone was able to open a store or even was able to have some success in the middle of the economical crisis. I was...

I also started all the paperwork (in this case first part of Medicare). I am using one of my friends' address (same building, different apartment #). She got three different letters and scanned all the pages (more than 30) and sent them to me via phone. Not everything is received or made...

Looking to invest $1 million USD in Argentina - what should I buy?

Beautiful story. My adopted aunt was born in 1929. And I had the opportunity to meet three more relatives with the same last name, also in NY, many years ago.

Looking to invest $1 million USD in Argentina - what should I buy?

True. One of the worst. I wouldn't invest in anything there.

Looking to invest $1 million USD in Argentina - what should I buy?

It is funny… I left New York in October, after many years living and working there. I had many friends, but there was a special person, who helped me a lot, an Argentine lady (26 years older than me), who was like a kind of "adopted aunt" to me, and was my family during all these years...
