    serious assault last night

Have to say that was some incredible detective work, French Jurist. Looks like you got two of the culprits in one photo - including the main offender!

    horsening/Cabalgata nearby BsARs?

Hmmm... been looking for something similar myself - thanks for the tip Markgeezer. Cabalgata is definitely the right way to say it. Horsening could be something to do with becoming a horse? ('I can feel myself slowly horsening') - I dunno.

    Moving to Argentina for love?

I also moved for love. I never regretted it for a moment. However, I would say that you have to be certain, if not you could store up resentment as there are a lot of things you will miss from back home and this ain't no paradise.

    iPhone

I'm pretty sure the question was from 2009 anyways. I guess that's what happens when someone brings back a thread that was started in 2008.

    Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 - where

No problem at all Slater, I hope your Godson enjoys it (and you should give it a go too - you never know!) Hiya elhombre - yeah, I'm not sure why, but I'm 100% certain that you need a transformer with an NTSC console. I have sold a couple of power bricks to people who have burnt out their...

    Xbox 360 / Playstation 3 - where

Hi Slater - I hope this makes sense. The standard USA (NTSC) Xbox's will work, but you will have to get a transformer from here to ensure the voltage is adapted to Argentine standards. If you plugged it straight into the power you would blow the console. The transformer you will need is the...

    Anyone bought us$ this week?

Quick question - A couple of people have referred to this already in this thread, but my wife's parents have a long-term rental (2 year contracts, not temporary) in dollars. Just wondering if it's legal or not, because the land lady's going ballistic about the idea of not getting paid in...

My experience buying a TV in Argentina

In two years time you'd be paying your final payment on a two year old TV. On a more serious note, I'd say the TV model and price you could get it for elsewhere is the only way of knowing if it's be a bargain or not. Even if it works out a bit cheaper for you here, it's still all relative to...

    Working holiday

Oh wow, all the prices are in US dollars as well. 750 dollars to work your ass off for a month, plus the extras. I mean, having to pay just to enter an estancia that you work in. I'd keep shopping around.

    Comedy Show in English (Tuesdays)

Hiya - I'm hoping to pass by tonight. What's the format (one comedian, guests?). Ah yeah, and is that 9pm on the dot for the show or an Argentine 9pm? Cheers, Sean

    Barber needed!!!

I know where you're coming from mate! A week before my wedding I went searching for a place to do a job on my short hair. I found somewhere on the internet that was supposed to specialise in the cut I wanted and got my hair butchered with a pair of scissors. Worst haircut ever. An hour later I...

    Which subte?

Yeah, that's what I meant. But thanks for clearing it up, I probably could have been clearer.

    Which subte?

You need to get onto linea D (the green one). The exact station would be Bulnes, which is right outside the Alto Palermo shopping centre. By subte, it would be Retiro>Diagonal Norte>Bulnes.

    Wage Advice - Writer

Thanks to both of you for the advice! Funnily enough, I ended up giving them a quotation for exactly what you suggested, allcraz. I spoke to a good writer friend earlier today and that was also the salary that he suggested. Well, we'll see what happens - but thanks again.

Poll: English teaching careers in BA

Yeah. 1-3 months I think. I didn't enjoy it. I think it was the constant travel from one place to the next more than anything else. I guess I'm lazy!

    Wage Advice - Writer

Hiya - I was wondering if anyone could help with a couple of questions I have. I was interviewed for an Ad Writer/Creative role (English speaking) within an advertising agency and just received a phone call asking for my salary requirements. Basically, I haven't got a clue what to tell them...

my experience getting my iphone 3g unlocked

Yeah, you can do it yourself, but it's a bit more complex with iphones and you can brick the phone, so I wouldn't suggest doing it unless you have a little technical knowledge. But it's up to you. I was tempted to do it myself, but 120 pesos seemed like it was worth it just to make sure.

my experience getting my iphone 3g unlocked

It's called Mac Soul. The website is macsoulnet.com.ar, and the address is Santa Fe 1780, 13th Floor. It's a nice office in the last gallery before Callao, when coming from the direction of 9 de julio. They'll have a look at your phone and give you a price prior to starting any work. They also...
