I'm a beginner too, played a similar amount, but love all racquet sports so would be interested in a game too. I played once in Paloko in belgrano, and I know they have some courts in palermo too on costa rica.

Well I just went to el gato negro on Corrientes(between rodrigues pena and montevideo) to buy some spices, and I happened to walk down callao just past lavalle when I stumbled upon a little shop with lots of kitchen items(pots, pans, etc..) They have a bunch of different spice racks there...

Thanks so far guys, yeah la boca is planned. I haven't even been to tigre yet so that could be a good idea. Colonia is quite nice for a day trip alright, although I think good weather is a must. The weather has been improving a lot though.
