Obamacare: Do Expats Need To Buy Health Insurance?

I haven't done any research on what the rules are for U.S. citizens living abroad regarding the Affordable Care Act (aka, Obamacare). Does anyone know if we are exempt? And if so, how I can properly inform the U.S. government (the IRS, I suppose) that I live overseas? Feel free to make this...

    Mexican Food

I just order my corn and flour tortillas (and salsa ranchera) from Las Tortillas de Pancho Villa online regularly and make pollo guisado at home. It's so easy and much better than what you'll find in restaurants here. I grew up in Houston and also lived in Los Angeles. Mexican food is my staple...

Expired Abl Bill? What To Do?

Sweet. That was easy. I didn't expect the ABL piece to be easier than Edenor. With Edenor I either have to wait for a new bill or pay online after setting up my online banking to allow me to use www.pagomiscuentas.com. I could go to an Edenor office to pay, but... nah.

Expired Abl Bill? What To Do?

I'm renting an apartment where I pay the bills for the landlord and get paid back. I totally forgot to pay three months of the ABL (and one month for Edenor). I went yesterday to pay the bills at a RapiPago, and they wouldn't let me pay, saying, "They're expired" (Están vencidos). What can I...

    Money And Banking

You can transfer into a BA bank account with Xoom. I do it all the time. BUT, there's a round of paperwork you the recipient has go through first. The great thing about Xoom, is that the turnaround can often be within hours. Definitely 24 hours. Ría Money Transfers is proving to take about 2 weeks.

    Xoom Vs Uruguay

Between the two, definitely go to Colonia. The ATMs limit per transaction, as mentioned, but you can do as many transactions as your bank will allow. When I go, I call my bank (Charles Schwab) and ask them to raise my limit for the day or two I'm in Colonia. It helps to have a bank that pays...

    Xoom Vs Ria

My first Ria transfer to wife's savings account in BA went through fine. Her bank (Galicia) called her but since she doesn't speak Spanish, she doesn't know what it was about and the transaction went through anyway. We're now doing a second transfer and hoping for similar results. The rate...

    Work Visa Renewal

Well, that's the policy, and I agreed to it. So now, I am just trying to figure out how to not pay anymore than I have to. To do that, I basically need to show my employer I know what to do. I went to the migrations web site, and I couldn't even find a link for "para renovar una VISA de trabajo...
