Live camera at Crown Eagle nest, in La Pampa

In La Pampa, west of Santa Rosa. This is a critically endangered species - fewer than a thousand Crown Eagles, worldwide. With almost no money, a group of volunteers localized the nest, and hiked in to set up solar collectors, cameras and all wiring in the middle of nowhere. It is people...

Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

For me, it is not cheaper than living in the US but still much preferable. I'm fortunate in having other options, but choose Argentina for its people.

Has Argentina Become Worse Or Better for Foreign Retirees recently?

Cost of living has become almost untenable, with the peso wildly overvalued.

Homelessness is on the rise in Buenos Aires

Last winter, for the first time, I saw people sleeping in doorways and sidewalks in Colegiales. Single people, not families.

    Looking for an American-style breakfast

Thanks, that's just around the corner for me. Will be on the lookout for the store opening. Let's hope their hash browns are good - they are the hardest thing to get right. I've tried making them and always end up with a soggy mess.

    Eye glasses prices in BA

Now that I think about it, my daughter had Varilux lenses in Foulcault. She paid something like six hundred dollars for the lenses. They must have been the top of the line, plus she added all sort of bells and whistles; her glasses turn into sunglasses in the sun, and have all sort of...

    Eye glasses prices in BA

There are several Varilux varieties. I didn't do well with the most advanced lenses and had to go back to an older style. Maybe that's the reason for the price difference. Check around for prices - I had some made at Lookout, a small local chain, and they work fine. Just as good as the pair I...

In Argentina, locals are taking loans to buy food

Don't waste your breath trying to reason with a bumper sticker "mind" - just empty slogans, prejudices, and personal attacks. No intelligent thought behind them. Let such posters vent their spleen as needed.

Varilux mutifocal lenses cost exactly the same here as in the States. Around U$S 200, and worth every penny

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

Grabbed the bait = "pisar el palito" in Argentina. Means stepping on the stick that springs a trap for dumb birds. Very appropriate, I should think.

Agree with your choices, Violet. But answering such posts as 76's is like trying to talk with a bumper sticker. No reasoning behind them, just slogans.

I, for one, don't mind your original post's spacing. Great reasoning, and great reading. Keep your very interesting posts coming, spaced or not...!

How's everyone hanging in there with the cost of living these days?

Chicken wings? Not for me - very fatty, which means high pesticide concentration. Pests have a fatty skin, so pesticides are designed to dissolve in fat. The higher on the food chain, the more concentrated pesticides become. Same problem with liver - a very fatty organ.
