    Apple Computer help update

May I ask what went wrong? I'm scheduled to take my ancient machines to Emiliano - need to clean ports, fix a non-clicking trackpad, and tighten a loose lid. Is he all right for such stuff? I'd like to fix and update my faithful old Macs - one is ten years old, the other seven. I got a 2023...

    Starting Over... with pets

"Neuquen, San Carlos de Bariloche, Mendoza and/or Cordoba" are your list of possibles. My own personal rating of the four places: 1-Mendoza - at the foot of the Andes, scenic views, many different good-sized towns to choose from, near Chile and the sea. 2- Cordoba, landlocked, nice but not so...

    Starting Over... with pets

Hello Karla..... Ask your vet for the paperwork to bring animals to Argentina. It is no hassle, but try to arrive on a weekday so the admitting vet fee is lower. You may try coming in as tourists to start with, and see how you like it. And learn as much Spanish as you can - not speaking...

Can anyone recommend a canned tuna?

The best: Lomitos de Atun La Campagnola. Comes packed in oil or water. I find oil-packed tastier, just wash excess oil out by rinsing in warm water. Atun desmenuzado is dismal: just processing-table leftover crumbs.

Argentina planned to ‘disappear’ hundreds of Britons on eve of Falklands War

No offense intended, but it's hard to believe people read that rag. Reminds me of the publications sold at checkouts in American grocery stores: "Jackie pregnant with alien baby....!!!!!!"

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

"Tourists" mean anyone NOT FROM SAN ISIDRO or nearby privileged neighborhoods. On weekends, Porteños stampede to have lunch along the river, anywhere from Vicente Lopez to Tigre.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

On the other hand, my fellow San Isidrenses feel compassion for those not lucky enough to live in San Isidro, or at least in Vicente Lopez.

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

Kansas is for tourists, and for snobbish Argentines yearning to live in Miami. Most Northern residents prefer smaller, non-chain restaurants hidden away in back streets. However, the names of those restaurants are a well-guarded secret of the locals, eager to avoid floods of tourists and...

Reliable transportation from the city to EZE?

Tienda Leon is above all the other companies. Their cars are new and very clean, its drivers are polite and willing to help with luggage, and they always arrive ten minutes before the requested time. Can be booked in advance and paid by credit card.

Brazilian tourist on prices in Don Julio restaurant

Nothing better in winter than a thick lentil stew with onions, tomatoes, and plenty of garlic. Nutritious, cheap, and very tasty.

Many Argentines back Milei on economy.

From what I hear, people go along with Milei because the alternative was horrendous. And they applaud his getting rid of the many fake agencies and ñoquis set up during the past twenty years. Agencies and universities created solely to get money for political campaigns, and corral ñoquis'...

How many of us are still here?

I'm prepared to live with a cheap dollar if it means that the country, and Argentines, are doing better. No individual can be really well until everyone else is doing reasonably well, too. Rich people may be insulated by their money, but many have struggling or unemployed relatives. It's...

    Recommendations for Bedding & Linens

I bought a set of US$70,00 all-cotton Arredo sheets in Uruguay. They turned out to be so rough and scratchy, that they were practically unusable. Good only to cover stored furniture and the dog's bed.

How many of us are still here?

The political climate may have changed, but its bitterness has not affected most Argentines. They remain warm, generous and, by and large, amazingly happy. On the other hand, the US has been torn apart by the hatred sown by politicians and the partisan news media, a hatred which has filtered...

I moved from the US to Argentina for the lower cost of living

I've found Spanish, British and Mexican people downright unfriendly, while the French are hostile. Americans, Germans, Belgians and Dutch are plain indifferent. Canadians and Italians are warm and friendly. And Argentines are very much like the Italians - plus being generous.
