Argentina planned to ‘disappear’ hundreds of Britons on eve of Falklands War

No offense intended, but it's hard to believe people read that rag.
Reminds me of the publications sold at checkouts in American grocery stores: "Jackie pregnant with alien baby....!!!!!!"

No offence taken. I read as widely as possible and out of my comfort zone just so that I don't disappear down a rabbit hole of my own opinions.

I call the Telegraph bellicose because they have a number of ex-military types who write for them and seem to find a great fascination in the minutea of war - such as why the "Ruskies" are now using so many 120mm shells fired from obsolete howitzers instead of the bigger stuff shot from more modern guns. Relishing the potential bloodiness of that Falklands story is just up their street.

I concur that The Torygraph is an abhorrent publication but surely the intention described is a horrid thing that warrants attention drawn to it? If it is indeed true
Why abhorrent? The writers are on the left though the paper pretends to be on the right. Articles are consistently anti Trump.

Had they done so, the consequences to the Argie junta from President Reagan and Prime Minister Thatcher would not have been pleasant.

The only reference to this to my knowledge is in a documentary done many years after the war where many civilian islanders were interviewed and one of the ladies that actually took part in guiding British troops in the middle of the night , mentioned that right after the take over on april 2nd there was one of the top brass of Argetine forces of irish bloodline that acutally put it forward to the high command in the island to line up all british on the shore and gun them down once and for all.
She actually went on to mention his name and that he spoke english fluently but she found out about his intentions thru someone that spoke spanish from the islands who was not suspected to understand what they were talking about as she would serve them their coffee.
Very interesting documentary, also the lady was quite a character how she discribed all the risks they took to ensure the brit forces wouldn't get lost or entangled in minefields. worth the time to watch.

Is this some parallel universe Telegraph?

Also: there are plenty of libertarians who dislike Trump's tariff policies and so are critical of him. That doesn't make them bongo lefties.
