    Immigrations changes now in effect

I have an idea of what they were thinking... They were trying to cut off the folks who only stay for 7 months out of the year, and possibly some of the Russians, but they took a hard swing in the other direction and went "Nope, one foot off of Argentine soil and you've got to restart the clock."

    Immigrations changes now in effect

Also, it defines two years of residence for citizenship as two years without leaving Argentine territory.

    Immigration changes: Health, Education, Deportation

I'm just a bit ticked... I'll have two years of PR in November, but as proposed, I still wouldn't be eligible because I've been out of the country for about six weeks during that period.

    Is Public Transportation Safe?

Very safe. I've never had issues on the buses or the subte here, even when I lived in Microcentro and would be on the bus at 1 or 2 AM to get home

    Purchasing a car

For what it's worth, if you need a dealer recommendation, I've got good things to say about the folks at Gonzalez Automotores in Parque Avalleneda. Ask for Daniel, he's great to work with and made the process of buying my Alfa smooth. They've got a decent used selection, and they sell BAIC new.

What is involved in getting a Driver’s License here?

I did a writeup on how I got my license without any probation period, back in February. See: https://baexpats.org/threads/how-to-get-your-drivers-license-in-caba-step-by-step-guide.48502/ Re: @FrankPintor - CABA changed it so everyone has to do the test circuit on the street now, but all the...

    CEPO is lifted

It’s MEP minus 7%. It hasn’t been official in two years. That said, the difference between MEP and official is roughly 7 pesos per dollar now. Visa and Mastercard apply it at point of sale, AMEX will refund the difference in a week or two.

Permanent Residency: One down, One to go...

That’s strange because we never had to submit a legalization of my wife’s Brazilian documents, and the website at the time said it wasn’t required. Typical Argentina, the right hand doesn’t know what the left is doing. Still, much faster than it used to be. Congratulations!

    CEPO is lifted

It's a dirty float, similar to what Japan does IIRC. Basically, it's allowed to float within a range, but they'll put the brakes on if it gets outside that range (see when the circuit breaker was pulled on the JPY last year)

    Anyone working here?

I spent some time last year working for the local branch of a Big 4 consulting firm, and being a native English speaker was absolutely one of the reasons I was hired over an Argentine. I ended up leaving after a few months because I got an offer I couldn't refuse from a startup, but if that...

What is the food you miss most from "home?"

I occasionally miss Dr Pepper or Mountain Dew, and I definitely miss a good proper cheddar cheese that isn't American cheese that has been rebranded. Other than those, I've pretty much figured out how to make everything else I miss from the south

Permanent Residency: One down, One to go...

The DNI should've been paid for with the rest of the stuff when you paid the boletos before your appointment.

Can someone walk me through this step of the DNI process?

They generally want to see hard copies with apostilles. DHL is expensive but it'll get here without trouble.

Need suggestions - Credit Card in Argentina for citizen

I've got cards from BBVA and I've always had pretty decent customer service from them. The only issue I have with them is that they don't show pending transactions, just those that have cleared.

How to get your Driver's License in CABA. (Step-by-step guide)

It's not really so bad. I just documented everything thoroughly in a way that you should be able to just walk in and do the procedure with zero problems and zero restrictions. It's all about preparation.

Need help with digital nomad visa entry status

I'd go down to Migraciones and talk to someone there. Worst case, they say you have to leave and come back in to use the nomad visa.

How to get your Driver's License in CABA. (Step-by-step guide)

Definitely doable at the sede. I found the ACA membership to be helpful for getting it done quickly though. (I walked in on a Thursday to schedule an appointment for Monday morning FWIW)

How to get your Driver's License in CABA. (Step-by-step guide)

As I said up front, your mileage may vary. The ACA branch was definitely friendlier than the what I've heard about the sedes though.

How to get your Driver's License in CABA. (Step-by-step guide)

So, I've jumped through the hoops to get my license in Capital, and I have a pretty simple step-by-step for how to make it happen with a minimum of hassle. This is written from a US perspective, so your mileage may vary if you're starting from another country. Step 1: Gather your documents. If...

    Using Argentine card abroad

With my Banco Francés account, I don't have to pay the 30% as long as I have dollars in my dollar account to pay the USD charges on my card. I know that doesn't apply to everyone, but at least for some of us it's a help.
