US ready to help with Argentina's fiscal turmoil

Interesting article here, claims the peso should be between 1500 and 1700. I agree https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-09-23/milei-s-peso-is-20-overvalued-and-fragile-analysts-say

US ready to help with Argentina's fiscal turmoil

Well, since the meeting, the dollar already rebounded against the peso. Maybe "sell the news" or overhype - announcement aparently coming later today. I really don't see how Trump could bailout Argentina, given his fan base is so against that kind of stuff.

US ready to help with Argentina's fiscal turmoil

I don’t know. Consider how desperate Argentina is for dollars, surely there will be some Trump demand like a base in Ushuaia or kicking the Chinese out of Neuquén. I understood it’s all for geopolitics - countering China in the region, and gaining access to the Antarctic.

US ready to help with Argentina's fiscal turmoil

Interesting to see what will happen with this and what conditions they put on it. Trump will come out of this winning. There will be instant concessions made, no conditional agreements later on as they know Argentina doesn’t stick to its commitments.

US ready to help with Argentina's fiscal turmoil

Jeez it’s happening again. The dollar starts to correct itself and then the government gets a loan to maintain the artificial exchange rate. Exactly what’s happened throughout the Milei regime. The blanqueo, the reduction in alícuotas, the FMI loan, now the temporary scrapping of retentions...

Peso posts sharpest weekly fall since Milei took office

But can inflation really rise with the economy already stagnant and no one spending money, and wage increases at 1% per month* All the majors devaluations I’ve lived through here since 2015, the dollar has outpaced the inflation - hence it got so cheap. Interesting as well that prices didn’t...

    What's on your BsAs wishlist?

Luckily, I have my mother-in-law who cooks for us as she’s retired. She wasn’t around last week, hence I had a week from hell trying to eat healthily without sacrificing my routine. My mother-in-law must spend at least 4 hours per day between buying everything (the “one shop, one ingredient”...

    What's on your BsAs wishlist?

Kind of The food and just buying things in general kills me, and I have been 10 years. I just spent 3 months abroad (Mexico and Colombia) and after “tasting freedom” there, I am REALLY struggling since being back. Here, buying anything, from coffee to medicine or decent craft beer to cheese...

The 10 Argentine dishes chosen among the best in the world

🤣 “La diversidad de ingredientes y tradiciones regionales convirtió a la cocina nacional en un referente global.” “The diversity of ingredients” that article did make me laugh 😆 10 years living here and I will never ever adapt to the food/diet, it’s awful. I just a spent a month in Mexico...

Confirmed: the BCRA is intervening in the exchange rate.

For the Libertarian government, the exchange rate is because of Villarruel and the risk of the Kukas (nothing to do with their heavy intervention and not complying with the IMF funds of course) Pretty desperate too, to blame someone who has nothing to do with the government and is completed...

Digital Nomads: does Lisbon have any lessons for Buenos Aires?

I don’t think Buenos Aires will ever suffer this. It’s always received international tourists, students and there already is a brecha when it comes to rents. BA had its nomad boom back in 2022/23. It’s also a city and country where people are used to receiving foreigners. The culture is...

How many of us are still here?

totally how I see it, those of us who are here long time- my other half earns in pesos - benefit from the country doing well and living standards being better, even if that means we have less cheap costs than at times with cepo and dolar blue.
