How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

My medical insurance bill is $245k this month with OMINT. Previously, there was a regulation that prevented insurance companies from increasing premiums for individuals over 65 if they had maintained continuous coverage for 10 years. Is this regulation still in force under the new government?

    Seeking recommendations for computer accessories

I have a big Coto nearby with an electronics section. Even they have a 100W/5A USB-C to USB-C cable for about 16 bucks. Can't vouch for the quality, though.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

It would be even better, but my phone software doesn't provide this option. I cannot turn it off completely, and still keep the main SIM card connected.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

One note for those experiencing battery drain: consider setting the cell tower connection mode to the lowest level possible. I switched mine to '2G only', and it's been okay since. On my phone this setting is under: Settings->Connections->Mobile Networks->Network Mode eSIM2.

    Seeking recommendations for computer accessories

Try to find the closest Fravega store. If you cannot buy from MercadoLibre, I guess, small shops in Galeria Jardin on Florida street would be the second choice. Make sure it at least states 'Carga Rápida,' and ask specifically whether it will work with your power adapter. For a MacBook Pro, it...

    Which Type of Residency?

The Visa Rentista requires 'uninterruptible' payments. You should not be able to change your mind and simply decide not to send it this month.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

If you have a number from them, could you check whether it is listed as Wireless at https://freecarrierlookup.com ? When you order a SIM card, they ask to list banks and apps you plan to receive SMS messages from. This doesn't inspire much confidence.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

Sorry, I've never used MMS. Frankly, I don't see the appeal. If your phone is connected to the internet, why would you want to send pictures essentially over SMS? I consider SMS to be an obsolete technology in itself, used mainly for verification purposes these days. For regular messaging, it...

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

It appears that 'Backup calling' on Android is available on certain phone models, in specific regions, and may sometimes disappear following an OS upgrade, making the entire situation subject to constant change. I've heard stories about people carrying a second phone around just to serve as a...

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

Is it an iPhone-specific feature? It doesn't seem to work for me on Android 13.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

When I signed up, there was a dropdown that said 'New line'. I assume below it there was an option to select 'keep the old number' and fill out a transfer form.

Getting a non-VOIP US phone number from Tello for 2FA

Recently, I needed to sign up for a service that wouldn't accept my Google Voice number, claiming it to be a VOIP number (fairly), so I obtained an additional phone line through Tello Mobile. I'm sharing my experience here, hoping it might benefit others in similar situations. Apologies for the...

Any ideas why the blue and MEP rates have dropped so much this month?

Everybody believed that Milei would start the dollarization right away and that pesos would cost nothing. So, everybody bought as many dollars as they could. Now, with dollarization not on the immediate horizon and prices in pesos up, many people are exchanging dollars for pesos to cover...

    Calling 0800 from outside Argentina.

Everybody in Argentina uses WhatsApp. I don't think 0800 numbers are relevant anymore. For most, if not all, 0800 numbers, there is a corresponding local number that you can call from outside the country. For example, see this for Personal customer service.

    BBVA and FATCA

I think they are asking you for your SSN. They need to provide your SSN or ITIN for FATCA compliance.

    Registering with MercadoLibre

Just stop by the Claro office to get a chip. They offer a prepaid plan with no monthly fees; you can top it up with a minimum amount, like 100 pesos, every 6 months to keep the number active. This should be enough to receive local SMS messages for verification. If you are a resident, getting the...

Argentine rules regarding receival of foreign pension

Do you already have a dollar account here? Banks here position a dollar account as a savings tool, people buy dollars as a form of protection against inflation. It is very difficult to get a dollar account without having a regular local job due to the regulations involved.

Is there some way to tell how much more expensive BA is getting/has gotten
