Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

If I may ask did those regular money transfers ever trigger a review or request for more information form Argentine authorities? The W9 was requested by Western Union or by the Argentine bank?

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Thanks for the details. My issue isn’t income taxes since I’m retired. I was concerned though that if I wire money from outside the country that it could trigger some unknown tax or fee.

I was wondering if there’s some transfer tax for bringing money into the country that I didn’t know about

Cash/effectivo, credit card, mercado pago 2026

Is there any downside to transferring money from a foreign (US in my case) account to an Argentine bank account? We are in the process of moving to Argentina and although I’ve used WU many times in the past it was always for relatively short stays. Ideally I’d like to set up a system that...

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

Personally I would choose the food in Argentina over most food I get in the US or UK, leaving aside top restaurants. But I grew up with Argentine food so that probably explains my preferences. There’s less variety in Argentina but I think it’s better than it used to be

    Medical Expenses

Question for those of you in BA with medical insurance. I’m 62 and planning to move with my wife to BA over the next year or so. I’m Argentine but have lived abroad most of my life. My wife isn’t and will get her permanent residency through me. What are the best options for medical insurance...

"Coming to Argentina more than twice a year" in times of Milei

I think the limit is 180 days per year although I’m not sure if there is a hard cap on tourists. But if you spend more than 6 months in a country you run into tax residency issues.

Confirmed: the BCRA is intervening in the exchange rate.

To be clear there’s no “risk free” investment here. The risk remains that the dollar could continue rising even above the so-called ceiling.

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

I pay less than that in the US!

Are there any legal implications to this? Meaning, would it affect you coming back in the future?

I’m ok with people believing whatever they want but surely there are better forums for that kind of stuff

    Citizenship vs becoming tax resident

Tax residency is not dependent on having a passport or not. Do you live permanently in Argentina? If so you are a tax resident. General rule in Argentina (and most other countries) is that if you live there for 6 months or more in a given year you are considered a tax resident

How much did your meal cost?

Depends on the pension, no? Highest Social Security payment now is close to 5000 dollars

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

The price of plans in the US in the open market (Obamacare) depends on how much you make. I don’t think that’s how it works in Argentina

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

Yeah, you can get cheaper plans in the US but not ones that cover so much

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

Depends on what you are comparing to. If you have a low (or no) salary and are buying insurance in the health care market (Aka Obamacare) you can get plans for less than that due to the subsidies. I’m actually looking into that for my wife and I right now. But then again no plan in the US...

How much more are you paying for your health (prepaga) insurance?

Say you want to do a general checkup so have a doctors visit plus bloodwork. Assume no need for anything else. Anyone have any idea how much that would cost without any insurance plan?
