If I pay with a US Visa credit card at Avis in Argentina, will I get blue rate?

Depends how much cash you want to carry on the hip. It’s nice to have the alternative it you’re short of time to pop to WU or a Cambio house

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

Also, paying the overstay fee is cheaper than the digital nomad application fee

Denied Digital Nomad Visa - My Experience

I would argue that if you can avoid a digital nomad visa, i.e. use a tourist visa, you should. Letting a country know you are working there remotely could open a can of worms that may be better left closed/ambiguous

Do Flybondi, Aerolineas and Jetsmart weigh and measure carryons?

I flew flybondi towards the end of last year. I saw some fairly big carry on weighed but mine was also fairly big and wasn’t. Think it’s luck of the draw really

Rumors gov wants to ban AirBNB?

I suspect due to advance jet fuel costs, airlines usually buy jet fuel 6 months in advance and 6 months ago they were toward their peak. My BA flights jumped from £1000 to £1800 in 5 months, though could also be due to time of year

Rumors gov wants to ban AirBNB?

Are there figures to show the rough ratio of tourists and expatriates against locals? There’s no denying that foreigners with more capital exacerbate property and rental prices though one would assume that the degree of this scales with the proportion of tourists. My intuition is that the ratio...

Huge Carnival closing party on Avenida de Mayo this evening

Thanks, will check this out. San Telmo has seemed surprisingly quiet, from inside, today

Are banks/WU closed Monday and Tuesday for the various 'Shrove' holidays?

Are restaurants generally busier on these feriados? Wondering if I’ll struggle to find somewhere for dinner

Are banks/WU closed Monday and Tuesday for the various 'Shrove' holidays?

Thank you kindly for the correction. In my defence, the first result when googling Feriados was 2022, though I should’ve clocked

    Europe to Argentina via Uruguay

And, in fairness, you were correct that I was bound to using the airport taxis awaiting outside. I did try to order an Uber but the nearest that they could pick up was about 20 minutes away and unclear how to get there from airport arrivals. It being swelteringly hot and me being fed off up of...

    Europe to Argentina via Uruguay

Thought I’d give some feedback based on my experience. I bought Colonia Express tickets via DirectFerries.co.uk and had no problems acquiring my bus/ferry ticket at Montevideo Tres Cruces terminal. Though, I do recommend bringing a printed ticket from DirectFerries The bus to Colonia was...

Are banks/WU closed Monday and Tuesday for the various 'Shrove' holidays?

As far as I see from the government website, https://www.argentina.gob.ar/interior/feriados-nacionales-2022 , it’s not a feriado, at the very least

    Recoleta Cemetery

Thanks, quite rightly so, for moving this to a new thread. For the benefit of information sharing - the price was 2030 pesos - with debit and credit card as the only acceptable payment method, and thankfully for me they accepted Apple Pay on the door

    Recoleta Cemetery

I did stumble upon that site but the drop downs didn’t work on my phone, bizarrely. In any case, I thought it was a very reasonable price at MEP rate, and even official rate I’d have paid. It’s quite a bizarre place to wander around, took me back to Lenin’s mauseoleum in Red Square

    Recoleta Cemetery

I managed to get in easily enough paying at the door. It was 2030 pesos, card only

    Recoleta Cemetery

Is it not possible to pay at the door? Hoping I’ve not made a big mistake walking here without having bought a ticket first

Do you have a link? That’d help, thanks for the heads up!

    Is Buenos Aires REALLY dangerous?

Wasn’t that a case of being followed from the airport though? If I recall it was a fellow Brit, and I recall seeing reference to this case on government advice. In any case at the time I didn’t realise it was Faena until after I’d been there. Made me nervous when I saw an article later and...
