    Returning after overstaying visa

Help please. I entered Argentina around the first week of March 2020. Then I stayed mostly due to Covid. I kept reading here about a disposition and auto extension of tourists visas every 30 days. So if I were to leave in May of 2022, does it still count as more than 2 years of overstay or is...

    Returning after overstaying visa

Sorry I don't have an answer for you. How much of a fine did you end up paying? Did they tell you by how long you had overstayed? Even if there were no automatic extension of the visa, you were still below the 2 year mark.

    Border closures vOmicron?

Thanks to South Africa's scientists and the transparency, we have a very early warning on Omicron. Because it is very early, there is much to be known so speculation is a moo point (like a caw's opinion, no body cares). Closing borders is cheap politics and won't do much except to delay the...

    Western Union money transfer

As Steve said, create your WesternUnion account while in the USA. Follow the instructions on how to validate and link your bank account to your WesternUnion account. Use the same laptop you will bring to Argentina. Also download the WU application in your phone and login from there as well while...

Is anyone having fun in BsAs?

Austria lifted the mask mandate and the infections spiked (it's winter there), so probably it is good to keep the masks on, especially when indoors. I would still avoid eating indoors with air-conditioning.

    Western Union money transfer

Yes unfortunate. The fees are hefty as well. Even transferring to a bank account has a hefty fee of $28. Their stock price is not doing well lately. They have earnings announcement on Nov. 2. I hope they can maneuver their business model to be more competitive without hiking up the fees so much...

    Western Union money transfer

The promo code is working for both instore cash pickups and transfers to bank accounts. If and when the promo is no longer valid, the fee will be pretty hefty even though the exchange rate is still very attractive. I have a feeling, going forward, they will reduce the fees significantly to...

When will Argentina be open for tourists to enter?

Restrictions have to do with low vaccinations rates and high infection rates in the country. As the vaccination rates increase, we will see opening to tourism (will require proof of vaccination). It is very likely this will happen by October 1st. 40% of the people in Argentina are fully...

When will Argentina be open for tourists to enter?

The borders are closed to tourists until October 1st. It is very likely the borders will open to certain vaccinated visitors in October since tourism sector needs it badly . The details can be found here. https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/world.php

Sending money to Argentina via transfer

I have two questions. 1) What is the monthly limit for sending myself money for cash pickup when I don't have a DNI? 2) What is the maximum I can transfer into an Argentinian friend's bank account per month without creating tax obligations for him/her? Thanks in advance.

    Venting on BAexpats...

Argentinians have the right to and do criticize things that are wrong or bad in their country. If you live in Argentina, you also have the same right. What I think that is not right is when we start making prejudiced statements attributing certain characteristics to a whole group of people or...

Why I am not planning on taking the vaccine any time soon, if ever

The best way to end an epidemic of this magnitude that already killed millions is through mass vaccination for the entire world. This epidemic will continue killing people, and the virus will have many chances to evolve if a large portion of humanity is not vaccinated fast. Trust in science. The...

    Overstaying 90-day limit

I think you should just wait and pay the fine on your way out. Traveling right now is not a good idea anyway. Exception is a one way trip back home ASAP to ride out this crisis in your home country, that is only if you can arrange an early return with your airline which could be almost...

    Overstaying 90-day limit

To answer my question it seems EZE is the only one of the two airports where you can pay the overstay fine. AEP is the other one. Also both the immigration office and the bank to pay the fine are open for 24/7 at EZE. No problems paying the fine and then coming back in two weeks later.

    Visa/Residency advice - Student Visa, citizenship, forming a S.A.

Very recently I left Argentina and paid the overstay fine and came back 2 weeks later and got a tourist visa for 90 days. I had overstayed for over a year. Before that I was gone for 3 months. and before that I had made a visa run to uruguay for a day. Just sharing my experience. I was never...
