Central Bank seen seeking weak peso under Fernández

It's never a politician's fault. It's the previous administration, opposition in congress, English for occupying the Malvinas, yankee imperialism, IMF, wall street, businessmen, the vultures, the media, etc. How dare you suggest otherwise sts!

Central Bank seen seeking weak peso under Fernández

The problem is Macri burned billions in reserves trying to prop up the peso. It weakened despite all their efforts. Just because the new government says their policy is good for the economy, doesn't necessarily make it so. It could temporarily revive the economy but hyperinflation beyond what...

    Overstaying 90-day limit

I understand now. Thanks. Just being detained for some hours before the next flight out, doesn't sound so harsh. When I heard arrested I was imagining getting thrown into some jail or something. Well I'm glad those days are over for me. Malteaser1, I hear the border is pretty porous with the...

    Overstaying 90-day limit

So if immigration officials keep approving your entry into the country under a tourist visa and then you go to reenter the country again they can arrest you?

    Overstaying 90-day limit

If you've only been doing that for under 2 years, most likely, you'll be fine. I did visa runs for 5 years before getting a DNI. Others for even more time. As stated above it depends a lot on the officer. If you really want to play it safe then yes it's better to cross at a land border, but...

    Bolivia

Come on BC, you ain't that naive...That's what every president says. It's not because I love the power and wealth it brings me, but it's to help the people. Of course, the US, Canada and other western powers with mining interests want Evo out. He isn't their political or economic ally. This is...

    Bolivia

True, it isn't black and white. Objectively, Evo was an effective leader, at least economically. Cut poverty in half, strong GDP growth & developed infrastructure. It appears power corrupted him and he didn't want to let go of that power. That being said, it's still hard to digest when the...

    Overstaying 90-day limit

It's highly unlikely you'll have a problem with 1 overstay. Before I got my DNI I overstayed a couple of times and know of many people who have overstayed 3+ times and still were admitted entry. Every couple of years there are whispers of the immigration system getting more tight, but expats...

    Will Cepo come back?

Sorry BajoCero, the people have spoken.

    Will Cepo come back?

    I don't believe B.C. would just make up something. @Bajo_cero2 ?

    Will Cepo come back?

BajoCero indicated that Fernandez wants the limit at 2k a month, so it should relax once Fernandez is in power.

    TransferWise comes to Argentina

I'd assume any legal licensed financial service that operates in Argentina is obligated to share financial data with AFIP. I'm not 100% sure though.

    Estanislao Fernandez, the president's son

True. I never get the people that claim she is insane, an idiot, etc. She's clearly very intelligent, charismatic and energetic, but with questionable morals. For the Argentine people all that means is that they have a hardworking, smart crook as vice president.

    Dollars in Uruguay?

As far as I know you'll need an argentine bank account or mercado pago account because you need a place to send the pesos. I don't believe any exchange has an option where you can pick it up in cash somewhere. Maybe @d.gray or someone else here knows a workaround.

    Dollars in Uruguay?

I'm making the assumption that the OP wants dollars so they can exchange them for pesos at the blue rate in Argentina. If they simply want dollars to pay someone in dollars in Argentina, then no it doesn't help the OP. You don't need to buy a single bitcoin. You can buy any amount you want...

    Dollars in Uruguay?

The risk is very limited because you are holding onto it for less than one hour. Today the blue was at 66 - 69. I received 70 pesos to 1. You may consider it dumb, but I consider it convenient and low risk. Even if it tanked 5% in one hour which is extremely rare, and you transferred $300, you...

    Dollars in Uruguay?

You pay a .25% commission if you buy on an exchange like Coinbase in the US and then you sell it for pesos right away. So you aren't going to lose much. There is a risk that within 45 minutes or so that the bitcoin takes to send from your "wallet" to the buyers wallet it could go down. Even...

    Dollars in Uruguay?

If you have a DNI here you can send Bitcoin on https://localbitcoins.com/ and get pesos transferred to your bank account. A lot of them have a 20,000 pesos limit. You'll get the blue rate though.

Max Purchase US$200 per Month for individuals..!

BajoCero is not what you would call an impartial observer. We will know very clearly what AF wants in December. If he believes a 2k USD currency restriction is appropriate then he will direct the central bank to raise the limit. I'll bet bajo 2k USD that the limit isn't raised to that amount...
