Ex asking for $600,000 ARS / $2150 usd as child support

Probably easiest to pay it as long as it is affordable and you can manage it for the next 16 1/2 years. Accept that there will be a significant overpayment. She is going to bank the rest of her life on those excess payments so if she is only spending half of what you pay her it is probably...

Expat Tax Advice - Looking For Accountant

I might have my speculating wrong because the US may never cede the primary right of taxation to Argentina. From an IRS standpoint, I thought unearned income is primary to the country derived but earned primary rights went to where you physically earn it rather than country derived. So even a...

One-way car rental to Ushuaia? (anyone wants to share the trip?)

Doesn't the border restriction take lending a private vehicle off the table? At least with an Argentine plated vehicle.

Legality of repeated Western Union cash pickups?

The tax information exchange treaty would apply to requesting foreign information. Using Western Union to send money to Argentina and/or receiving it would be a domestic issue. I think they are provided that information by Western Union unless there are privacy laws protecting it. Most of...

    Western Union money transfer

My credit card has no fees for cash advance or foreign transactions. It needs to be paid off immediately to avoid interest. You could do debit using the same strategy but I don't believe any debit cards are free from foreign transaction fees so you'll be into it for 2-3% higher than the...

    Western Union money transfer

Register a new WU account under a different country that has no western union fees for the type of transaction you want. You'll only lose a little converting out of dollars but using a no foreign transaction credit card it is minimal on the middle currency conversion like 0.48%. I would get...

    Western Union money transfer

A quite a few times the CCL had over a 10% spread over the price to buy dollars. It was a Dollars on sale for 90 cents. Has anyone here looked into a brokerage account to use the real CCL? You could just move it back and forth depending on the spread. Move 100k in to buy a house. Cash...

    Western Union money transfer

It follows the CCL. That has been all over the place historically. Above, equal, or below it. Someone already suggested it earlier, WU yourself when the spread is favorable and buy dollars. Then in times like now you have blue dollars to exchange.

Expat Tax Advice - Looking For Accountant

Please share what you hear. I don't think it would be correct because the issue would be the earned income part. Investment or Rental income is easy, Those are sourced in the USA, taxable to the USA, and you claim a credit for those foreign taxes paid in Argentina. Income earned in one...

Expat Tax Advice - Looking For Accountant

The rate would be close to 35%. Doesn't take much income to hit that rate. You can pay with WU or Blue Peso so trims the real tax rate paid. Same with the wealth tax. If it is foreign (US sourced) income then you get a credit for taxes already paid in the USA. All the dollar incomes and...

    Vehicle shipment USA to Argentina??

Mercedes Sprinters, Ford Transits, Toyota Hiaces are much better priced here compared to the USA. They usually retain their value better compared to the usa. Besides the recent craziness in the us used market. But if you buy as a tourist it can't leave the border.

    Western Union money transfer

I think you have 90 days to pick it up. You could likely cancel it prior to pickup if the exchange rate increases or keep it if the rate drops. I always did bank to bank where you only have a tiny window to cancel.
