    Caution when collecting rental deposits!!!

Actually I did use Paypal but you have to remember two things. First, when using Paypal with ByT you are charged 4% of the transaction in order to transfer the funds. Your deposit still needs to be in the hands of the owner of the property during your stay so even if you pay online a check will...

    Caution when collecting rental deposits!!!

I rented an apartment from ByT and as part of the rental agreement I had to pay a deposit up front. During my stay the landlady at this rental property on Santa Fe near Malabia claimed that the maid that she had contracted to clean both of our apartments had found and stolen the deposit money...

    www.bytargentina.com comments

I posted this comment on indextar but I also tried to post another in a different area and after I took the time to write it and enter all of the info the system would not record it. I guess that the system still needs some work over there. I remember trying to post there a while ago and it...

    www.bytargentina.com comments

I have rented from them 5 times and have never had a problem that they were not able to resolve. Can you find cheaper places to stay in town if you have the time and perseverance to keep looking?.......Yes. Absolutely. Are there a million other companies down here in the same business?.....Yes...

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

Grazie, There is no need to apologize. I appreciate the fact that you tried to get the info at all. If anyone should be apologizing and reimbursing me it should be Bank of America. They treat you like they are doing YOU a favor by holding your money.

TGI Friday's in BA - yay or nay?

I think that maybe you misunderstood my post. I am not someone who hates all things American and is trying to steer you towards Argentine culture or something like that. I LOVE TGI Friday's and for this reason I am suggesting that you do not go to the location in Puerto Madero because it is not...

TGI Friday's in BA - yay or nay?

My advice would be to skip it and try any one of the many local places in town with good food. TGI Fridays in Buenos Aires is not terrible but the menu is not the same as in the states. There are come glaring omissions and in reality it is not the same experience that you are expecting and on...

    Host family in BA

It is redundant and a little bit obnoxious to post this same message in two different areas of the forum. If you want this message to continue to be seen update it yourself every few days and it will continue to be one of the highlighted messages that the members see when they first access the site.

    Host family in BA

You could find a host family in Costa Rica, Ecuador, or Guatemala for that price or cheaper easily. If you are only interested in Spanish maybe look into doing that first in a different country for a month or so and then coming here after. You can find shares and pensions in less popular...

How much does protest or riot in BA affect your daily life?

There are so many that after a while you don't even really notice them anymore. Most of the time I find myself cramped into the subte at rushour like a sardine or I go to the entrance only to find it closed and I find another way home. I don't realize that this was due to a protest or some...

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

I get charged the $5 at Banelco as well. Maybe that is another difference between California account holders and the rest. You said that they are giving you the run around. What exactly did they tell you in Oregon?

Immigration into Argentina from Mercosur countries

I would guess that many of the Bolivians here are illegal.

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

Thanks a lot Grazie. The rep told me that there weren't any Global Alliance banks here. I really appreciate you calling California and getting that info. I will try one of those banks the next time that I withdraw funds.

    Travel to BA

So far I have flown here on American and either United or Continental. In both cases I flew the first leg and then called the airline and rescheduled the second leg for a much later date without paying a penalty. If you pay the little bit extra for a movable ticket you should not have any problems.

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

I called the bank today and they claimed that they cannot waive my fee. According to the rep on the phone they can only waive this fee at an "Alliance affiliated" ATM or something like that and of course none happen to be located in Buenos Aires. I just sent a message online and I plan to call...

    Is this story true..

This is a very interesting topic to me because I hear such different views about the level of crime here. I always hear people from the U.S. and Europe talking about how much "safer" it is here than at home but I always hear locals talking about how dangerous it is. I stay "glued" to the news...

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

hshanks- The problem could be based on the fact the Bank of America actually has two separate business entities in the U.S. There is a west coast Bank of America and then there is Bank of America for the rest of the country. I was working in San Diego for a while and I had a difficult time...

    Stop Paying Killer ATM Fees

That sounds like a great deal and I am a Bank of America customer as well. Is the basis for the waver simply that we are living abroad or is there some other kind of qualifier? Also do forms have to be faxed and signed or can this be done through their online banking function?

You should list this on www.yesba.org. You have to register but it is free. Your post here is going to disappear pretty soon but I think that it stays posted there for 2 weeks. Good luck!!!

    visa

I think that I was able to answer my own question with info from another site but could someone else verify this, or if this is not the proper procedure, offer the correct one. What I read was that it is necessary to go to this office Immigration at 1355 Antártida Argentina Avenue in the...
