It was 100% British in Stanley. The remote parts are inhabited by a few families of sheep ranches, co-sharing the land with 1000's of penguins and nesting sea birds such as pectorals and black browed albatros. We took great photos of babies on nests. There was no sign of Argentina culture there...

As a commercial real estate investor from the states, I agree that real estate here is way overpriced/over valued. Do the math? If you can rent something for $400-$1,000/mo. why would you pay $200K and without the benefit of leverage? I came thinking maybe... but due diligence says just enjoy...

Thanks, and yes we spent a month in Patagonia area and 3 weeks on an expedition to Malvinas {Falklands}, South Sandwich Isles, and Antartica. Now we are soaking up the warmth and energy here. If you know of a meet up for expats, let us in on it.
