    McDonald's opened a branch in Villa 31

The city has been working on fixing up Villa 31, so I would assume they'd put in police coverage and not just throw a bunch of money at it.

Max Purchase US$200 per Month for individuals..!

Ah, didn't see that one, thanks. Yeah, that's basically a 30% devaluation on current and future peso savings for anyone that wants to save in dollars. It makes sense for the government to do that since they have very low reserves now as it'll make people think twice about purchasing dollars and...

Max Purchase US$200 per Month for individuals..!

Isn't the 30% only on foreign tourism and digital purchases where currency conversion has to occur, and credit card usage abroad? That doesn't affect your average Argentine unless you're counting Netflix or Steam. Honestly, this is for the most part a tax on the wealthy only if the above is...

Surely you don't expect labor laws to be followed in Latin America, right?

    Western Union money transfer

You can, just choose the Bank Transfer option under the "How would you like to pay?" section. I think the fee for debit cards is the same and it's faster, so I would just use that.

    Why is everybody complaining?

Are we allowed to complain about the power outage this morning? Feels like Florida in the summer.

    Why is everybody complaining?

Right, a lot of people from first world countries leave their countries when they retire since their pensions can go much further abroad. They can live comfortably in a country like Argentina, but they're still on a fixed budget.

    Quality of life declining?

Venezuelans, Paraguayans, and Bolivians. As is tradition here in South America, no matter how badly you're doing, your neighbors are doing worse. Paraguay isn't doing as bad as Venezuela or Bolivia, but for people outside of the major cities it's pretty rough and there aren't many...

    Quality of life declining?

It depends on how you define poverty. Some organizations define it based it on the median wage. Here in hard knocks world we generally define it as having food to eat and water to drink, so less than 10% is quite feasible with our (low) standards.

    Uber's dark side...

Considering how many times I've seen taxi drivers driving in the middle of the night with their headlights off, I'm going to say standards aren't very high. Always fun trying to cross the street and a mysterious taxi you couldn't see nearly runs you over.

    OECD Education 'Ranking' 2019

It's funny that China gets its country's average based on four of its wealthiest cities. Nevermind the 1 in 3 kids that don't even finish junior high that live in rural areas, or the other kids that are either non-wealthy or non-urban and have abysmal educational opportunities.

Cost of living vs. salaries in Cap Fed

    Latin currencies

You're comparing the change in USD and ARS at the same time, that's why you're confused. Person A and Person B both started with 17,000 ARS and exchanged it for 1,700 USD. Person A bought 1 ounce of gold with it, Person B purchased a house. 3 years later Person A's ounce of gold is now worth...

    Western Union money transfer

I wonder how frequent 1000 peso notes are used in circulation. Even when I withdraw 4-8k pesos from ATMs I get at most 500s (I have once had the pleasure of getting 6k in 100s while wearing shorts... fun times). I have yet to see a 1000 in CABA and until I saw this I didn't even know they...
