    Casting: Venezolanas en Argentina?

I know of a sweet Venezolana who works at the Starbucks on Avenida Puerrydon. Her name is Vane. After 2 months, I reluctantly left Buenos Aires but have many friends and memories remaining behind in that City. If you contact her, tell her the artista "Brad" passed the info along.

    Rowing at Puerto Madero

You are right, kjhebert. Although Puerto Madero has much potential (high-end boutiques, seafood restaurants, coffeeshop with 22 varieties (I counted only 8), new architecture...the waters make the mud-colored Rhine shine in comparison. If I hired a boat I would take it directly out to sea.

Best way of getting to Ezeiza

On my last day in Buenas Aires (Nov 27th morning) I rode the subway rails to Retiro station, where I intended to buy a 45-peso ticket on the Leon bus nearby. Well, I got the ticket but before I did, a group of Argie delinquents sprayed lotion on my shirt and offered to help me clean it off...

    Hooked on Mate

This morning in Puerto Ugauzu I saw this huge honking barrel shaped like a Mate mug sitting on the sidewalk with a sign that read "24 hours, hot water, 1 peso" or something to that effect. I bought my son a bag of Mate and a gourd with bombilla but now I'm thinking...I want one just for me too...

River Plate v/s Boca Juniors. SUPERCLASICO TOMORROW.

Sounds good, but I bought a Boca Juniors jersey and learned to say "Todo Piola" so I wouldn't get jumped down in La Boca...

The worst pizza in the world?

I tried the rectangular mozzarella/tomato/basil pizza over at Voulez Bar in Palermo and was unexpectedly pleased. Even the food critic in Buenos Aires Herald liked the chow they serve at that joint. Dutara is right; don't get your hopes up over the promise of tasty cuisine. Last week I ordered...

Photography on the streets of Buenos Aires

Yes, by all means invest AND wear a moneybelt under your shirt. Make sure there is a zippered inner pouch for passport, credit cards, and 100 peso notes. Keep the smaller stuff in a regular wallet and put in a buttoned pocket. If you are shooting alone, make sure that you have a grip or...

    Teatro Colón Tours

In Tuesday's edition of the Buenos Aires Herald, they mentioned the uneven floors and mismanagement of the Teatro Colon, among other chronic troubles. Still, I don't know why you couldn't show up at the door and take a peek at the impressive edifice. If not, then bring along a manila envelope...

    Jungle trek equipment needed

Last but not least. I would suggest you start swallowing Malaria pills (Dioxlin) the day before you leave, and bring some ointment to ward off Dengue flies. I have 1 5-month supply of pills that I will start eating when I leave for Iguazu on the 17th.

American film to be shot in BA this month - Casting!

The 17th? Darn, that is the day that I ride the autobus to Iguazu. Ummmm...how about a scene where Americano expats are drinking on the bus? Naw, I'll probably get vertigo. Sounds kewl though.

    FIESTA HIPICA...where is it?

I was strolling down the Avenida Liberatdor the other afternoon, looking at the defaced postersigns of the Kirchners, when I saw a sign advertising the horsey FIESTA HIPICA, a free equestrian event in the November 10-14 timeframe. I went online to learn more about it but just keep digging a hole...

What/where is that whistle on the street?!

Hola folks. I've settled in for a month or so and can now sleep with the crazy traffic outside my window. The issue I haven't quite figured out is...what/where is that crazy whistle one hears when walking down the street? My guess is that drivers have bought a whistling device because honking...

    Thursday noon at MALBA museum?

Buenas tardes. Yikes, I finally got something to eat today after el censo shut everything down. Anyway, after I get my daily java at Starbucks on Pueyrredon Street tomorrow, I was wondering if anyone wanted to meet up at the MALBA museum? No, not Melba toast. It is a museum for artists and...

RUSH playing tonight at Club Geba! 10/15/2010

RUSH reminds me of an elfin freak with a microphone. Did anyone see Dave Matthews Band at Luna Park the other day? Disclaimer: Like Dave, I am also from old Virginia.

Fasten Your Seatbelts! (oh there aren't any.)

Now THAT was hauntingly hilarious! Reminds me of Greek taxicab drivers who make liberal use of sidewalks when navigating the streets of Athens, where I lived for 4 years (not on the streets mind you but in a suburb of the metropolis/acropolis.
