    Anyone want some free food?

I've received five requests so far, so I think the food is spoken for. I will let you know if there is anything left over. Thanks!

    Anyone want some free food?

Thanks, everyone! Our time here has been amazing, and everyone on this forum has been really helpful. I was an expat with private internet access, and I gladly accepted some free staples from friends who were leaving town. I figured there might be other people who wouldn't mind saving a few...

    Anyone want some free food?

Hi everyone, I'm leaving BA on Thursday, and I have some food left over that I won't be able to use up. There will probably be some rice, pasta, lots of spices, different kinds of flour, cooking oils/vinegars/sauces, a few kinds of tea, some canned goods, etc. Ideally I'd like for someone to...

Recommendations for a one-time cleaning service?

Hey everyone, I'll be checking out of my apartment in a week, and I'm trying to do everything possible to ensure I get my whole deposit back. I was the first renter in a newly refinished (but not entirely well-built) apartment, so I'm afraid my landlord will have unrealistic expectations...

    Moving sale: small items

I'm leaving BA on June 30th (crossing my fingers that the ash cloud doesn't blow back over!). I have some things that I've acquired over the last nine months that I'd like to sell. Everything is less than a year old, and in like-new condition unless otherwise stated. All prices listed are...

    Volcano ash/Eye problem

I was in Bariloche earlier this week (lucky me) and I got a ton of ash in my eye while I was waiting for a bus. I rinsed it out a few times with saline solution and it's fine now, so I would second that recommendation. Good luck!

    American Idol

I don't know whether I have Cablevision, but it just started on channel 37 for me.

    literatura Rioplatense

Probably a stupid question, but I can't find the information on the website you posted: is this a course for native/fluent speakers of Spanish? I'd love to take a course like this, but I haven't found anything yet for intermediate/advanced Spanish learners.

    Vegetarian Cooking Class Rec??

I took a class at Esquina de las Flores on Gurruchaga in Palermo. I believe that they have other locations around the city as well. I think it was 80 pesos for four classes, and you can sign up one session at a time. The teacher (I think she also owns the restaurant) is warm and full of...

    Passport size photo

I did mine at a Kodak place on Scalabrini between Paraguay and Charcas. 17 pesos for two photos, very quick service.

    ORGANIC (Sun Gold) Cherry Tomatoes

I received a kilo this afternoon and I had to stop myself from eating half the bag in one sitting. Really sweet and fresh--if you like tomatoes, I'd definitely recommend ordering some of these. Thanks Drew!

Can I get a visa stamp at Ciudad del Este?

I was just at the falls a few weeks ago, and I did the Brazil/Argentina border crossing several times. I did a lot of research and I didn't come across anything about a temporary visa just to see the other side of the falls. As far as I know, US citizens have to pay for the full 10 year visa...

anyone have an air mattress or pump?

I actually did try that too...for some reason it still wouldn't go past a certain point. I think it needs the power of a pump. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'd appreciate it!

anyone have an air mattress or pump?

I have friends visiting for the week and I'm trying to make them more comfortable in my tiny, poorly equipped apartment. They brought an air mattress, but it doesn't have a pump. We were able to fill it about 3/4 of the way with a hair dryer, but no further than that. Does anyone (in...

Leaving San Diego for BA in April!

About two months after I arrived in BA, I found it frustrating that so many people discourage others from coming here (wait for the "but"). I came here with a little savings, but I was able to find a few teaching jobs and I made enough to live on very modestly. Now that I've been here for five...

    finding teaching jobs advice

I don't know of any institutes that will hire teachers before they arrive. I had to wait until I got here to interview, and I believe that's pretty standard throughout the city. With experience and a CELTA, I don't think you'll have a problem finding jobs here, as long as you're willing to...

    Feta Cheese

I really miss feta cheese too! I've seen it occasionally at Carrefour, but I haven't tried it. I tried some brie made by the same brand once, and it was pretty bad. It's expensive, so I haven't given the feta a shot. There is a specialty store in Palermo (corner of Malabia and Charcas I...

Anyone been to a football/soccer game at Velez?

It seems that there's more than 100 pesos difference between the platea and popular tickets!! I searched previous posts, but I can't really get a clear idea. Is the popular section okay if as long as you don't act like a clueless tourist? I should mention that I'm a pretty short woman (just...
