Looking for a psychologist that speaks fluent English

In case people are looking for a recommendation in the future, I have had a really positive experience with Angeles Justo. She's fluent in English, for folks who prefer that. https://www.psychologistba.com/angelesjusto

    Rentista visa application outside Argentina

Migraciones doesn't seem to be aware of the change: https://www.argentina.gob.ar/servicio/obtener-una-residencia-temporaria-como-rentista "Es necesario que te encuentres dentro del territorio de la República Argentina."

    Rentista visa application outside Argentina

I have only known people who have applied for rentista from inside the country. Where are you seeing that Migraciones no longer accepts applications from inside the country?

    Learning Argentinian Spanish (app)

If you want to take a class before you get here, CUI offers some of their classes over Zoom: https://cui.edu.ar/tipos_de_cursos.php . They have a few options for how many times per week the class meets. I imagine the next classes won't start until January, but I'm not certain.

Hoping to move soon to Argentina, here for immigration advice

Just to avoid confusion (though maybe you already know), monotributo isn't an immigration category, it's a tax payment scheme. TBD what that will look like after the tax agency combines with customs.

Anybody want to earn a little extra money? I need an assistant

It sounds like you might want to look into hiring a service that does this sort of personal care tasks (a "cuidador domiciliario"), especially if you're asking about doing things like assisting with bathing. That's a skilled position that deserves to be appropriately compensated. If you're in...

    Museums

I disagree that the Fortabat is one of the better art museums in the City, but that's just me. MALBA and Museo de Bellas Artes are the top two, then either the Museo de Arte Moderno in San Telmo if you like modern art, or the Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco if you want to...

Happy Pre-Columbus Day, everyone - and a question

US Embassy: presidential election voting reminder for citizens in ARG

Based on everyone's experiences, I'm skeptical that the Embassy's sense of timing re: the mail is accurate. For what it's worth, I dropped my ballot off at the post office on Wednesday morning, and the tracking lookup says it left Argentina yesterday. Maybe I'll eat my words, but assuming it...

US Embassy: presidential election voting reminder for citizens in ARG

Just sent my ballot to NH for a whopping ~U$D 30, because with two envelopes it was slightly over the weight limit for the cheaper weight class. Also hiking up the price was that I sent it certified, since in a few past elections our ballots arrived late. For the September primary we tried using...

Watercolor and / or Oil Painting classes

UBA's Rojas cultural center often has classes: https://www.rojas.uba.ar/cursos/categoria/artes-plasticas I haven't done a painting one specifically, but I found them reasonably priced and a good length.

Question re. PAIS & other taxes for Bank Wires

It's what our attorney started telling us to do a year ago. Haven't had the rentista visa renewed yet, but I do what the attorney tells me to do, and so far it's that. I'm willing to believe, since we're not their only clients, that they have a sense of what has been working lately for renewals.

    IHOP

I haven't had the pancakes here, but for another diner-food option, you could give Trixie a shot: https://trixiediner.com/

Question re. PAIS & other taxes for Bank Wires

Yes, our bank account has a USD account in addition to the peso account and we extract it in USD at the bank branch. So far no one has expressed any requirement that it be pesified, only that it come in to the bank in USD. But of course, Migraciones may change their mind tomorrow, you never know.

Question re. PAIS & other taxes for Bank Wires

You have to wire it to yourself in dollars, not in pesos. You can keep it in dollars once they arrive. We send ours through a SWIFT transfer. Last month's bank combined commission and IVA for our SWIFT for a rentista visa, not including the fee charged by our bank in the US, was AR$3990. That's...

    McCormick crushed Red Pepper Flakes

It's not exactly the same, but I typically use merkén where I might have used red pepper flakes before. You can get it in Barrio Chino, and probably elsewhere. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merk%C3%A9n

Options - extended 90 days and plan to overstay 180

To jump back to the original question, I wasn't counting my 180 days (I also went to Migraciones and extended) but I probably just snuck in under the wire. If you can get it in before, that's probably better? But my attorney didn't advise me against submitting before or after the 180 mark, it...

Any recent success stories obtaining temporary residence?

You got very different intel than I did. Rentistas can have families here, but it sounds like you're considering setting up a company here for this "worker visa"? But the real answer is: you should search the forum! There's a lot of good information that people have given about their experiences...
