    Teaching Conversational English in BA

I am an English teacher, and although I am not reading Shakespeare, my classes are not all conversational. Frankly, I have students who say they want conversation but it gets old quickly. You will inevitably need to teach grammar, idioms, phrasal verbs, etc in order to move beyond talking about...

I Don't Say Anything About Your Blue Leopard Print Stretch Pants

Women here (and men for the fact) LOVE to stare at people. To me and the culture I was brought up in, it's rude. I asked my Argentine students about this and they say a few things: They are studying you to figure out where you are from, they are jealous of something you are wearing, they think...

    New American Breakfast Restaurant!

We sat down with high hopes. We were greeted right away, ordered our food and waited. After a group of 6 came and went, and a group of 2 who sat down after us already received their food, we asked what was going on (there were only 3 tables---at least 45 mins for food is a bit too long). The...

Can I get a visa stamp at Ciudad del Este?

Thanks everyone for your help. It looks like I will just be staying on the Argentina side. I was trying to save money by not crossing into Brazil and paying the visa fee and thought I could get away with a visa stamp at CDE, but I guess not. I already paid 800 pesos for a bus ticket there and...

    VoIP, Ooma, Vonage, Skype, etc.

Yes, Whistle is from your computer to housephones/cell phones. So I'm not sure if that will work for you or not. I use it all the time and I have doctors or whoever call me back on the number.

    VoIP, Ooma, Vonage, Skype, etc.

I use whistle. You download it on your computer like Skype and you can make free calls to landlines and cell phones to the US. Plus, you get to pick the area code of the phone number they assign you.

Dumbest question ever asked here... hehe

I've seen Ziploc bags at Coto and Jumbo. They are usually around the cleaning supplies. The only difference is that they come in a package of only 6 or so. No 100 count boxes here!

    Pay for English teacher

Yes, I work at an institute without a work visa. Each institute is different--some take taxes out in an attempt to be legit (although you use an Argentine's CUIT number--shady). The other institute I worked for didn't take taxes out. You get paid in cash or by a check.

Yea, the Wall Street Institute is horrible! I have not heard one good thing from any of their students or their teachers. Do not work there!
