Time to Move to Rio de Janeiro?

Yeah, I can't believe some of the prices here. Some things are even more expensive than Canada. A lot of things are still cheaper, though. My next stop is Asuncion. Going there in a couple weeks.

    Western Union money transfer

I need to send $2500USD, converting to pesos. Do they limit the amount one person can take at once or anything?

    Disappointed with Food in Argentina

I agree. The food here reminds me of what people say about British food in the 1970s. I disagree about seasoning, though. If meat is good, you can eat it without sauce or seasoning and it's delicious. That is definitely not the case with the meat here. The food in grocery stores is not good...

Javier Milei Infuriates G-20 by Rejecting Call for Gender Equality

I'll give one Canadian example of how the manipulation works. A local woman's shelter wants to tackle "gender based violence" by giving presentations to high school boys. Sounds reasonable. Who wouldn't want to help stop violence against women? But, when you go to the presentation, you find the...

Javier Milei Infuriates G-20 by Rejecting Call for Gender Equality

He's doing the right thing. The politics of "equity and inclusion" have advanced very far in my country, Canada, and it's the reason I left. Buzzwords like "gender inclusion" are just euphemisms for radical left social policy.

    Where to find good coffee

Food depends a lot on personal taste, of course. But I always like to eat where the locals eat. I don't like trendy or pretentious places (not that I'm saying that's what you were suggesting); I like simple, home-cooked meat and potatoes kind of food. And in Colombia the typical everyday food...

    Where to find good coffee

I haven't been in BA long, but so far, I've ordered espressos in a few different cafes, and what they gave me was not an espresso. It was a much bigger than an espresso and the coffee was far less concentrated, i.e., it had more water. I don't know if the extra water is because of the way they...

    Where to find good coffee

I just went to the Juan Valdez today. It was pretty good though not the same as in Colombia. Also, I had to tell them not to add water to the flat white. They told me that's how they make them; they put the espresso in, then add water, then add milk. I'm surprised about the food situation here...

    Where to find good coffee

Yes, I've discovered that. It seems that you'd have to get them to do a double ristretto and add only milk to get a real flat white or latte

    Where to find good coffee

Wait, are you saying you think Colombian coffee is bad? In that case, we have very different taste in coffee. You seemed to have misunderstood my point about flat whites. I've never been to Aus/NZ so don't know about their coffee, but if it's like the coffee here, I can only assume it's watery...

    Where to find good coffee

I'm loving Buenos Aires so far. Great vibe and architecture, but, from what I've found so far, the coffee leaves much to be desired. They don't even do espressos, it seems. What they call espresso is something like an Americano. And a flat white is like a watery latte -- you can't even taste the...
