Ready For Free Practical Training (Tourism)!

Hi there, I'm a 23-yr-old tourism student from Finland. I'll be graduating next year and before that I'd like to do my 3-month practical training in Buenos Aires where I lived a year studying and I liked the city a lot. I've been working in a hotel here in Finland, and been organizing events...

    Gaining weight in Buenos Aires

Carlosgreat, you're so right. I'm 181/65 (girl) and I eat avocados, sunflower seeds and nuts, eggs, cheese, butter, olive oil, veggies, some fruits (they are just sugar but to get some vitamins etc), beans, lentils, natural yogurt, cream, berries.. no bread, pasta, processed crap, anything that...

    Clothing in buenos aires

Yep. I really don't understand how the locals can afford shopping clothes here, 300-400 pesos for shitty 100% polyester or acryl o whatever-horrible-material-dress! The knitwear is mostly acryl as well and cotton shirts just don't exist. I bought socks (20 pesos each pair), wore then 4-5 times...

U$200 Room in shared apartment (Lavalle & Callao)

Hola Nenet! I'm interested in your habitación! I'm a Finnish girl, 21, studying tourism. It was nice to read that you're vegetarian - I never buy meat but I'm ok to eat it if it's served at some place. But in your kitchen I wouldn't be preparing bloody steaks :D I'm quite relaxed and tidy. I...

Riding a bicycle in Buenos Aires

Bicisendas that don't connect? Jeje, very good. I found a lock but they didn't have the huge U-locks.. this is a 15mm cable. Maybe it's ok if I don't leave the bike on the street but lock it and keep it inside the whatever building it might be... hope so! The lock cost 67 pesos. Still looking...

Riding a bicycle in Buenos Aires

Thank you for your replies! Postmodernchild, mine was 350 pesos. I find the price OK because it's in a good condition. Good locks are expensive, no? Bueno, me voy a buscar estas cosas. There must be some bicycleteria nearby!

Riding a bicycle in Buenos Aires

I just bought a bike! For me it's like having a baby. Now I need a lock for my love and I think a helmet would be handy, too. Anyone know where to buy these things? I've been living here 3 months now and I might have seen a bike store at some point but can't remember where it was... Opinions...

    From Finland to Argentina...

Hola chicos! Saludos de Barrio Norte. Hace casi dos meses acá - y me encanta! Amo esta ciudad, hay de todo y rebuena onda. I really enjoy it in here, now that I've settled down I'm looking for a cheap gym and new friends to hang out with... I'm trying to get to know the locales instead of...

    Hair Salon

Where does this Ryan work? I could go and visit and book the time since I hate to call - no specific reason for that, it's just me. I've horrible hair - it's thin, nearly blond and doesn't have any cut anymore (it has been a year since I went to a hairdresser, haha)... I speak Spanish but not...

    Gyms in BA

I'm interested as well! Probably going to live in Recoleta but anyway :) What are the prices (approx. of course) for a membership per month? I enjoy bodystep, pump and especially zumba and I'd live to do those in BsAs as well!

    Cat calling

Okey, so silence or smile. First one - no problem, it has worked fine in the oh-so-wild Southern Europe, but smiling...I've found it a bad idea sometimes. "Thank you" is a bit 'dangerous' too - then the guy starts to ask where am I from and bla bla, thinking that smile/thanks is a sign me being...

    From Finland to Argentina...

Gracias Paul! How funny, you just mentioned one of the things I'm a bit nervous about -- my eating habits. I've been trying to avoid fast carbs, red meat and prosessed food for the last 5 years, so steaks, pasta, pizza and helado (mmm!) won't exist in my daily menu. But I've noticed that there...

    From Finland to Argentina...

Celia, cool! Unfortunately I know hardly anything about tango except that the Finnish version is very popular over here. However, glad to hear that also we not-so-flexible-people can dance it that well - I did little research about those people! I need to try at least once to see how bad one...

    From Finland to Argentina...

Thanks guys! I'd be happy to meet people over there once I've settled down a bit. Not too many Finns around over there - and not too many Spanish speaking folks here with whom to practise the language! I have a problem with baking, meaning that I do it way too much... so extra mouths are...

    From Finland to Argentina...

Hola a todos! I'm 21yr student of tourism coming to study in Baires for a year. Only 3 weeks left here in the land of snow! I couldn't look less like a porteño, I really suck with Argentinian accent but my Spanish is not that bad - I've studied it only for one year but I dare to claim that I...

    Cat calling

Interesting. So how do you act or do you just not act? I'm not used to hearing comments about my appearance here in Finland but I'm sure I will in Buenos Aires... especially when being blond and 181cm tall, heh. I don't mind hearing "sos diosa" (yeah right) but would be nice not to get offended...
