12,000 Nazis lived in Argentina in 1930s with Swiss bank accounts

Peron was not in power in any capacity in the 1930s. These are German immigrants who were Nazi party members, much like there was in Brazil.

The Nazi party was officially outlawed and criminalized in Brazil on April 18th, 1938.

“We believe that these long-dormant accounts hold monies looted from Jewish victims,” the center said in a statement released this week. "

Classic first step for holocaust industry shakedown.

I didn't say 1930s. I said that Peron had fascist / Nazi sympathies.

Germany accounted as germans until the 4th generation born abroad. And according to the German Consul, by 1937 there were 200.000 nazis in Argentina who were, mainly, argentines from german families:089FA691-0796-4153-99DF-3128A892C289.jpeg

I wonder if all the Nazis had much dinero. Probably the average small Nazis just ran away from Germany when they almost lost the war, moved to Argentina and Southern Brazil. It's so easy to be tracked with large bank balance in those days ? The best way is to shove the cash in a bag and run.
Did south American governments know about these people and just kept one eye closed ?

The Argentine and Chilean government did, the Brazilian government did not. Brazil was one of the first countries in the world to recognize the state of Israel and would arrest, gift wrap and extradite with extreme prejudice any Nazi escapee that it found, such as Franz Stangl.
However, with such a large German descendant community in Southern Brazil and the porous border between Brazil Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay,, it was relatively easy for those escaped Nazi criminals to move back and forth and falsify papers, which made them incredibly hard to track down.

Peron was trying to help the Nazi to settle in Argentina.

As Bajo Cero said in another post, the bulk of the elite officers of the Argentine air force after World War II were ex-Luftwaffe.
Ironically, the bulk of the elite officers of the Brazilian air force at the same time were pilots that shoot down their "Argentine" counterparts in Europe.

On the 7th of February 1949. Argentina recognised it on the 14th of February 1949.

The USA knowingly and enthusiastically took in many thousands of Nazis after the war, far more than any other nation. Talking about Argentina is an American deflection tactic.
