I know they were planning to change INDEC's methodology a la Cristina (cooking the books, but this time it's cool because they're not peronists I guess?), but wasn't sure if they've implemented it yet.Do I have this straight? When a goverment of a different political colour manipulated the INDEC statistics and created "alternative facts" with an "IPC Congreso", there was hell to pay, nationally and internationally, with adverse judgements handed down all over the place.
But when the "forces of heaven" publish their alternative facts on the official goverment website, that's no problem?
That's not to say the study is unserious, but consistency of methodology is essential for measuring this, or any government's performance.
This will be great because it will literally make apples to apples comparisons impossible. How long until we have Milei channeling his inner Cristina 2014 saying we have les poverty than Germany?
The only people I trust on poverty numbers are UCA as they've been hated by both the Campora and Forces of Pelotudos for saying "Hey, most Argentines are poor" since I first came to Argentina, and the CABA IPC for inflation as they've been doing it since Moreno IIRC threatened to sue private organizations and banks for challenging dear leader. (For what it's worth I also don't believe INDEC's inflation numbers under Milei, but that's another conversation to be had).
Poverty and inflation numbers in Argentina are a lot like Groucho Marx: These are my [statistics], and if you don't like them... well, I have others...
