My water bill went from about $30 a month to $252 in April and May. I had heard there was to be an increase but that seems crazy. We are just two and I don’t believe we have any leaks. Our water usage seems steady. Has anyone else had such a dramatic increase?

Where do you live? Apartment or house? sq m2? Have you checked your bill to see if they remove any kind of subsidy? Do you own or rent?

We own a large house, but we do not use any more water than we would in a small place. Is the bill not based on water usage?

In some areas they installed meters. I am not sure where you are living ( city vs province ), they may have added new taxes or removed subsidies. You need to inspect your bill ( fine print ) to actually see what happened.

If you have a water meter ,check the #'s and record the usage....you can submit reading on aysa's WhatsApp #

Edesur just guesses a lot of the time and I wouldn't be surprised if AySA does the same. Check your meter vs the bill and make any claims accordingly

Thanks to all. I will check the bills. But as the bill for both April and May are for the exact same amount, $251, I fear this is the new base? But I do have access to the meter and will record the usage.

As others have stated, check the base rate on the bill and consumption. Also, look for words like "ESTIMADO". It indicates that they are billing an estimated useage until the meter can be read. Some companies may read the meters only a few times a year.

Sometimes they misread the meter, and since they don't do it every month it just keeps going.
