All major airlines have banned checked pets?

Just sent wife and 3 cats from JFK to Buenos Aires . American does not take checked pets so I had to put them on Aerolineas Argentina . 500 a pop . It was 200 2 years ago but I guess they can charge whatever they want when they are the only game in town. The charge for a large crate is 1500 , yes I said 1500 . My wife's ticket was only 800 so dress the dog in clothes and say he identifies as a human today
 
Is anyone aware of a service here in Buenos Aires I can hire to go help me with this process?
