In past discussions, some others stated it was easy process. Did the rule change? as a foreigner with tourist visa. AFIP website isn't very clear...

I am having the same question, if anyone could answer, that would be very helpful

I got mine 2 weeks ago. Went to the police station with passport for the cert of Domocille. Then, I scheduled it online with AFIP and got it in less than 10 minutes the next day. The problem now is that many AFIPs have been closed, so I am not sure what the alternative is.

I got one today. Scheduled online as well. Before the visit I had to fill out and print out two forms (No. 206 and No. 663), el certificado de supervivencia, and scan my passport. During the visit I had to enter my queue code (which I got online) in the terminal that prints out queue tickets, and then wait my turn to be displayed on the screen in the hall. Then I approached the indicated window, handed all the documents I had, signed whatever I was given and 5 minutes later got my CDI.

Thanks for the reply! So you don't need that address certificate from a police station. Right?

Sort of off topic....but I got my CDI in Sept of 2023 and will reach the 2 year mark this Sept.....I know there are citizenship/DNI discussions here as well but has anyone converted their CDI (for investing purposes right?) to citizenship or DNI easily? Just curious of past experiences and if the CDI is somehow beneficial other than proving you registered with the poice and went through a process...

I got my CDI about a year ago.

The only thing it has been useful for is to buy a vehicle, as I understand it it, it is also necessary to buy land if you lack DNI/CUIT/CUIL.

Banks will not accept CDI+passport for the purposes of opening an account. After trying with Banco Galicia in a branch that others have recommended on these forums, and being told a CUIT was needed, I verified this with ANSES in B.A, paraphrased from them: "There is no way to have CUIT/CUIL without radicacion."

Therefore banks cannot (or rather, will not) register you. The reason I say "will not" is that the Banco Central actually mandates that all banks allow foreigners to open an account with nothing more than a passport, but there are no paper-based procedures anymore, and they all make the excuse that "our systems won't let us do so without a CUIT/CUIL". How convenient for them.
