Argentina Ends Electricity Subsidies

And since water has already gone up by leaps and bounds, we need water meters! I living alone pay as much as the same size flat with 5 people in it! And if it is metered, maybe people will start to stop wasting this precious commodity! We can live without gas and electricty AS HARD AS IT WOULD BE but water, NO!

Well No electricity No water in high rise buildings plus no elevators.

Figure the estimated KWH consumed by your appliances?? see link.

http://www.edenor.co...SO_consumo.html

Your computer and Tv consume a lot not to speak of the Air.con and Fridge that is connected 24/7

We haven't had subsidies for five years and appear to be paying top whack, so here's hoping that any increases will be manageable.
Having said that, I don't believe in subsidies generally anyway, except in exceptional circumstances.

$0.47 / kwh thats like USD $0.03. That's not terrible all things considered.

Ok, I have used the table published in infobae to do some research on my electricity bill.

It seems ok..the new rates. I think my bill will go up by 50-80 pesos per 2 months. Usually its 200 pesos per 2 months..now it will be 280 pesos per 2 months!

Usually in the past, I had a tarriff of R1 or R2 levied on me depending on number of units consumed by me. If I consumed less ( like 255 K Wh), it was R1 else R2.

so I applied R2 rates on my highest consumption ever ( 455 KWh in 2 months) and computed 280 pesos basis R2 as published above.

I noticed, my old bill is without subsidies ( everywhere it says - sin subsido)!

eg If I consume 455 KWH

My bill will be as follows basis R2

Cargo fijo = 54.46 x 62/62 = 54.46
Cargo variable = 0.448 x 455 KWH = 203.84
some taxes - 30 pesos

Rest ..time will tell! WIth 280-320 pesos from 150-200 pesos..its not so bad. Though its a increase by 50% but OK.

Phew!!!

Please don't use less electricity if you go below 300 kwh your variable rate goes up ...!!! to 0,566 $/kwh

So its like a balloon payment , all what you underpaid since 2005 now you have to pay back with interests . Return the subsidies we received :)
