No matter how incoherent and illogical the ideology behind this might be, it doesn't really hurt anyone by itself. People try to fight this because they worry about confused teenagers destroying their bodies with dangerous chemicals and surgeries, or the new phenomenon of handing out condoms and birth control pills in women's prisons because transsexual women are screwing the normal women. And lots of women don't want to use the same change rooms and the rest as transsexual women. But the recognition alone is no big deal.

That said, in what universe is this something that anyone spends any time on? I'll tell you which universe, it's the one where Argentina's economy is on life support, the same old gang is lost at sea, and they welcome a 'culture wars' debate rather than a real debate about their management of the economy.

There was a time when Argentina had some of the most conservative Catholic seminaries in the world.

So, basically, Republicans.
