The program is anticipated to require approximately $500,000 investment in strategic sectors ...
According to data from Numbeo, the overall cost of living in the United States is 99% higher than in Argentina when rent is included.

For a measly half a million, you can live at 1% of U.S. costs. Who could possibly resist? :)

as far as I am aware, the USA still has EB 5 investor visas, which start at an $800,000 investment, up to $1.1 million depending on the details of the investment, and the investment can be a business, or, in some cases, real estate. These give you a green card and a defined path to citizenship.

The new Trump million dollar and five million dollar "cards" are technically gifts to the USA, and since they are not congressionally passed laws, are dubious in terms of longevity. More a gimmick than anything else.
The smart rich guy just buys a business and employs US citizens, makes a profit, and gets residency, leading to citizenship.
In the long run, you can sell your investment at a profit, meaning you dont actually pay anything if you buy wisely.

The Argentine is also an investment visa. at a half million US, its similar to many other countries, including Portugal, and Canada, for example.
I have several friends who have recently bought homes in Portugal, which gives them residency, in the $500,000 range.
Argentina will have to compete with european countries and Canada at that price level, and frankly, I think for many potential candidates, its pretty optimistic to price it at a half million.

Obviously everybody has their own expectations and quality of life levels, so the five million dollar number as a requirement to live the dream is kind of ridiculous.
