Argentina announced that it was putting into circulation 4.9Million 2-Peso coins commemorating the 1982 invasion of the Malvinas Islands.

Story here. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ary-Falklands-invasion.html?ito=feeds-newsxml

On a related note, the Confederate States of America has announced the distribution of a $3US coin commemorating Pickett's Charge at the battle of Gettysburg. France is said to be following suit with a banknote depicting Napoleon's 1812 invasion of Russia.

Have a nice day.

I don't know about Cristina but I certainly would not be commemorating my ass getting kicked.

Its like the administration thinks: "How do we get people to talk about something other than the crap load of money we seem to be printing, helping fuel inflation?....Oh yeah, let's print Evita's ugly mug on our new 100 peso bill and print the Falkland...I mean Malvinas on our 2 peso coins! Surely this would get people talking about those topics rather than the fact that we are printing excess amount of pesos, driving their value down to the ground!"

Suggest they make 5 pesos coins and 500 pesos notes and get rid of the 2 peso note. A bank note of .30 cents.......!!! I am sure Christina thinks Nestor's mug would look good on money. Ahh the joys of inflation.

Hey, it won't be long before that Starbucks (should it be StarPESO?) coffee costs $500 pesos.

It should read 'commemorating the 1982 liberation of the Malvinas'.
Otherwise...why not? I don't see a reason for criticising it.

Damn, why didn't I think of that! Good catch!

Argentina has announced today that it is putting into circulation 4.9 Million 2-Peso losers coins commemorating the disastrous 1982 invasion of the Falkland Islands, in order to distract the spending public from what is really happening under her administration.
Have a nice day.

Sounds tidier this way methinks.

Oh dear, this country will never learn. If Argentineans stopped thinking they were right about everything they might learn something.

In fact, they should do away with all coins and start them at 3-5 pesos... The metal value of the coin is worth more than the monetary value, I believe...

soon we will have gazillion dollars note... like in Zimbabwe
