Argentinians can distinguish between a "UK" accent (whatever that means, as regional differences within the UK are huge) when speaking Spanish and a North American, Australian, or NZ accent? I really doubt that.

It's the first thing they will assume if she speaks any English and they will know for sure after asking, "De donde sos?" (and most of them will).

There's a great scene in the movie "Apartment Zero" when Collin Farrell gets in a cab in BA and the driver starts chanting "Malvinas, Malvinas, Malvinas!"

Ironically, Collin plays the part of a man who was born in Argentina but speaks with an "English" accent because he was educated abroad.

The entry stamp is the I-94, it is only an entry permission for vacation not a precaria.
The same with the renewal.

The precaria is, in fact, a working permit.
The other different categories of ID (transitoria or permanente) are the same, the difference is on how long is the working and residency permition.
Precaria: 3 months
Temporaria: 1 year.
Permanent: lifetime

My experience tells me that residency isn't all that difficult.

She wants to come and work. A legal residency for working contract is not going to happend.

The other categories of legal residency involves marriage, mathernity, retirement, student or rentista (you enjoy here the money you make abroad).

We do not have the immigration category like we used to.

However, foreigners are entitle with the same civil rights (more in fact) as citizens (besides political rights) when they are in the AR territoty. That is why I suggested to overstay.

I often tell strangers that I'm Irish (without affecting any accent), just to avoid talking about the USA. No one has once said that I don't sound Irish.

.I am going into my 38 year here and the only Argentines I have met who are able to tell the difference between a U.S. and a British accent are those who have either travelled extensively or lived in either of those 2 countries..
The British accent had a certain "snob appeal" among the more "chi,chi,bom.bom" xenophiles in the zona norte until the
'90s when "Miami Fever" took over.
I speak English in a native East Side of Manhattan accent for effect but,personally,I doubt that the majority of Argies can differenciate country accents.

Thats funny .. most Argentines recognise my Scottish accent straight away.
