Peru ranks just a little bit higher, but by the ITC ranking it averages 3.0 which would make Peru still very corrupt. Chile and Uruguay top the

In case anyone was wondering....

The score relates to perceptions of the degree
of corruption as seen by business people and country analysts, and ranges
between 10 (highly clean) and 0 (highly corrupt)

How do we define corrupt as a society? Is taking a 10 dollars bribe more corrupt than starting wars based on false information or stealing trillions of taxpayers monies to support rich friends in Business.

How would you say in the shakespearean language?
Diste en el clave? Would it be you hit on the ....

I had the same thought, that what mattered most was the evolution, but couldn´t find the information online, thanks you did it for me.

What astonishes me is why the average argentine thinks this government is far less corrupt than Menem´s or others in Argentine history.

If as you state, the ranking shows the opposite.
Serán las privatizaciones? Which meant fresh dollar denominated income into the Bauza´s, Manzano´s and other cabinet members current accounts? Sobresueldos? (how would I say this in your language?)
But would sbdy doubt today that KK ministers are not receiving the same
"stimulus"?

Another issue that sets me thinking is why Chile or Uruguay made it to the premier´s league.........(they almost have a tie with your country, USA ranks 20 vs. Chile 22)

Don't forget financing not the war itself, but Halliburton and Blackwater. Recently, the US government is going to give money to GM and/Chrysler to assist with their buyout of each other. Maybe there should be various degrees of Corruption.

We could argue what represents corruption there are many forms. By the measurement of this organization Argentina is close to the bottom of the barrel in South America and getting worse, as of 2008 Argentina is below Bolivia. Nothing against Bolivia but it's the poorest and most backward country in South America. I found an interesting link that discusses the varies forms of corruption in Argentina in more detail.

Am I the only one here who thinks starting an illegal war that is costing billions a day and has caused untold suffering to millions seems preety corrupt to me.

Now is the Current government in Argentina aiding and abetting distant wars ? Is its financial markets causing a meldown of the world economy? Is it government spending trillions of dollars of tax payers monies bailing out the compulsive gamblers of Wall Street who have committed the biggest heist in World History?

I apreciate some balanced responses

Take a look at the title of the thread, it's Argentina versus other S.A. countries. If you want to start another thread on this topic be my guest. Changing the subject won't make the corruption problem in Argentina and the rest of S.A. go away.

I have been told by another SA person that we should look at Peru or even Brazil over Argentina. We are hear for a while so I will have to make the most of everything.
