Telam will now be dubbed the State Advertising Agency (APE), in charge of "the development, production, marketing and distribution of national and/or international advertising material."
In the past Télam was the newswire service of Argentina with offices around the country collecting and reporting news. Very similar to the reason why Reuters, AP and France-Presse AFP work in other countries. News media located in Buenos Aires and the rest of the country create news reports based on that raw news. This intentional dismantling of the Télam is so that news from around the country will not reach the public. Instead they will spread federal government sourced news and spread it around as advertising. This is what the past regime was guilty of doing. Giving money to only pro-goverment media by pretending to buy adverstising.

Argentine Government Closes State News Agency Telam
Argentina's government on Monday officially closed state news agency Telam, transforming it into a state advertising and "propaganda" agency after right-wing President Javier Milei accused it of leftist bias.
