Howdy folks,

I think we are long overdue on a helpful post for existing and expectant expats. My inquiry is whether any of you are investing in anything down here. Stocks, Bonds, Plazo Fijo, Carry Trade, Businesses, Real Estate, Import/Export, State embezzlement (just kidding), etc.

Tell us a little about it and what returns you are getting. Great inquiring minds (mine) would love to know what unexpected windfalls or silver linings you have found down here.

Personally, I've been investing in apartments in Neuquen for the past couple years. The properties require a lot of fix up and it requires knowledge of the rental market, but the returns have been good, especially with the strong peso. I'm currently yielding 19% returns on my investment thus far, though the favorable exchange rate is anyone's guess.

Investing.com lists dozens of Arg companies that are listed on the Buenos Aires Stock Exchange and are involved in mining metals and materials which should be in great demand for the foreseeable future. Many of these companies also have attractive PE ratios. Also Lithium Argentina is traded on the NYSE. Has anyone considered investing in them?

Very curious about this one as well, especially given Bessent's mining comments. I'm sure we'll be the last to hear of the opportunity.

I've done very well with Mercado Libre over that last several years, MELI on the Nasdaq. It's a forever stock for me at this point.
Some have done very well with Argentinian stocks ADRs listed in NYSE. If you have the right information can make/lose 10 % in one day. CFK placed all her pension pesos into ADR's she's doubled the money with the Correct information. .

This reminds me of the infamous "Nancy Pelosi index", where amateur traders began to track her trades to take advantage of the obvious insider information she was using:

Outperformed the market by 564%, mere coincidence...

Incredible run if you were there in the beginning, but an 8% total return for the past 5 years (1.7% annually) is hardly wow performance.

This is one was a tip-off by an oil manager I met a couple years ago. Given how fresh off the boat I was, I was still very skeptical of Argentine stocks. Wish I had paid more attention...

Seven years ago it was in the 300s. Three years ago in the 800s.it ran up to 2600 recently. Now its backslide a bit as growth stocks tend to do. That's why we dollar cost average, Unlucky Luke.

I am heavily invested in peseta coins and 2 peso bills. Once Milei beats inflation I will be a millionaire.
