I remember years ago eating in asian restaurants in Belgrano for US $ 5 per person . Now You could easily spend 10 times as much . Asian fast food is notoriously expensive here and seems close to three times more expensive than New York and with much less Quality . Have a look at the video and tell me if You can Even Buy this here and if so where and how much would it cost

Just the boiled rice costs 10k at my local.
Cang tim in Palermo for a very small serving of roast pork and rice is 22 dollars . in new York portion sizes are easily double and the cost is less than 8 dollars usa . Argentina has completely priced itself put of the market and the consecuencias now are very apparent with huge drop in consumption and restaurants closing down faster than Ever

Restaurant prices or even "delivery of food "prices have gone crazy in the last 3 months
Sometimes I end up eating a big mac for 14000 pesos ( 13 usd) or pay for a proper healthy meal of salmon and puree de papa for 50000 pesos ( 45 usd)

Muffins are not Chinese...but if I may....a simple muffin at the supermarket is about 1000 pesos. Every restaurant or bakery type place here in Las Canitas or in Vicente Lopes near building 101 is close to 5000 pesos.....and these are not designer muffins. Starbucks is an even 5000.

How do these places stay in business? Not all are closing. The situation seems hopeless.

If you walk around Palermo, it’s amazing how many places are closing. It’s turning into a ghost town.

Eating out and ordering food is ridiculous. The average business owner here is going to need to learn to live off volume not margin.

I said one year ago that Buenos Aires Will be the the most expensive city in the world for food and it's Taken the gold medal now . fast food is at least double new York prices and up to 10 times asían prices . in Thailand You can get a excellent street meal for US 3 dollars . here You Will pay US 20 dollars and the portion size Will be up to 70 percent less .

There is an Asian place on my street selling "egg fried rice" for 7k pesos. It's plain rice with tiny specks of what must amount to half an egg in it.

I have never run a restaurant but how much could it cost to put say 3 eggs in it so it actually looks like egg fried rice, then a quarter of a chopped up onion and a quarter of chopped carrot for the color. A couple hundred pesos and you would have something people might return to buy instead of the restaurant being empty all day. So many things in Argentina if they added 5 % effort the quality could increase 200 %

Food Quality is a huge part of good quality living .i have a friend in Tokyo who sends me fotos of his lunches and i feel jealous . Huge meals of fish rice and vegetables for less than usa 10 dollars . here fish is virtually non existent and in a restaurant they are now charging over 30 dollars for simple fish meals . salmón is easily 50 dollars a meal now . most restaurantes are empty Even Don Julio is in problems
